For The People Act, in part, works to limit secret campaign spending. This is so popular across all political ideologies that Koch & allies own polling found NO message effectively countered idea that billionaires shouldn’t be allowed to buy elections. newyorker.com/news/news-desk…
The fact that the bill would stem the flow of dark money (from likes of KS billionaire oil magnate Charles Koch) proved so popular, the poll makers said it wasn’t worth trying to mount a public-advocacy campaign to shift opinion. 2/
Instead (a senior Koch operative said), opponents would be better off “ignoring the will of American voters and trying to kill the bill in Congress.” You want to know where #MOLeg gets the balls to ignore the will of MO voters to defund Medicaid expansion? 3/
The #KSLeg is busy snorting lines of white power, too — ignoring the needs of the people who remain uninsured and leaving over $425million federal allocation on the table. Hate & reductive thinking will get you a decaying dependency state even as it strokes your ego, apparently.

What an intense ride for @KansasDems! Candidates & supporters and after an exhausting 4-yrs for all. We meant to post earlier but it has been hard to find words to salve the hurt or quantify the range of emotions — especially during this election cycle. 1/
We want to say THANK YOU to EVERY progressive candidate who threw their hat in the ring in the last 2 election cycles since we came into existence. You stepped up when insurmountable challenges to change here in Kansas might have suggested you just sit right back down. 2/
Most folks don’t give a 2nd thought to challenges of running on progressive ideals in a state like KS. True, @jocodems have built an infrastructure to support candidates, but it’s still an uphill chase in most districts across the state, especially in rural counties. 3/
