Checking out at grocery store with eggs and margarine to make cookies clerk holds up margarine and says, “What do you think about THIS!”

I’m thinking “margarine?” but I say nothing.

She helps me out saying, “THEY took the Indian off!”

Still processing ( long day tired ...
... pulled up to a stop sign not a stop light on way there and waited for it to turn green ) she asks, “WHY?”

At this point I’m pretty sure question while important to her is mostly rhetorical.

But clerk presses on “THEY took ___ images of ___ and ___ off ___ and ___).”
My silence is golden but still leaves an opening for another question, “WHAT KIND OF PEOPLE WOULD DO THAT?”

So I think to myself people sensitive to feelings of Native American Indians still upset about being stereotyped, having their lands stolen, bounties put on them like ...
... animals or killed en masse in massacres or uprooted as in trail of tears or on another product Blacks stereotyped and exploited and tortured forced into slavery ( you know the whole slavery thing with people owned like stock animals bought and sold ) but I still say nothing.
Clerk says “ Have a nice day.” I say “You too” & leave. I think about woman I knew who I thought cared about people until one time she told me about going to public pool with niece’s child. What she told me stopped me in my tracks. She said, “They let Black kids in the pool. ...
... don’t you think that’s terrible?” I said nothing. That was decades ago and the clerk was last night but the attitude was the same. What stands out to me EVERY TIME is that the people expressing racist views or as with clerk thinking we’re going too far to accommodate ...
... (some) minorities’ sensitives seem to think their view is the only right view and everybody believes like them and thinks like them. I think they must if they feel free to just blurt it out in contexts as diverse as margarine packaging and which kids allowed to swim in pool.
But the cookies to be made are for my daughter’s birthday and she has BELIEVE THERE IS GOOD IN THE WORLD and is good (because God don’t make no junk like the child on the poster on the wall of the barber shop I used to go to long ago.) The sun shines on all of us but not in ...
... us all. I so much want to be a good person and father but my daughter is so contrary sometimes I say things too mean too much sensitive to context of my own feelings and not to context of what she’s going through at the moment. As a person I’m working on it. The world ...
... can’t be good all the time with only a sticker BELIEVE THERE IS GOOD IN THE WORLD that’s why we have to be the change ( for good ) we want to see. Putting others down never brought anybody up while true doesn’t fit with all it takes for evil to win is for good people to ...
... say or do nothing. I was silent on those two occasions and many others. You have to pick your battles not waste time and think about self care. Racist ideation built up over years can’t be addressed at a check out line when you’re in a hurry. But we should talk about it.

@DesignationSix All it takes to acquit in SERIOUS crimes with serious penalties is just one juror with “reasonable doubt” (as practical amount “any doubt” since “reasonable” is undefined) as per Supreme Court 2020. Good news is unlike OJ trial where everybody saw EXACTLY THE SAME EVIDENCE but...
@DesignationSix ... opinions as to OJ’s quilt between Blacks and whites nationwide were astoundingly different ( probably because Blacks and whites nationwide have astoundingly different life experiences which influenced their opinions ). Maybe I’m naive but despite the fact jury trials ...
@DesignationSix ... determined by men and woman peers (not God never perfect) prejudices while out in the open and raw are better perceived if not better understood and factored in as they should be in what we call justice. Convicted or acquitted Chauvin is poster child for why we need better...

@johnlundin Reportedly McConnell bragged he told Obama to his face he’d never get a SC nominee & followed through refusing to bring Obama ‘s SC nominee Garland up even for discussion as required by Constitution Senate duty to advise & consent (or not). Filibuster NOT even in Constitution.
@johnlundin McConnell saying he will obstruct is entirely disingenuous because that’s all he’s done holding 100s of dem bills on his desk not bringing up even for discussion relishing “grim reaper” nickname quite literal with bipartisan Covid relief on his desk bill May to Dec 2020 ...

@Bodhi66 @BerniceKing @soccermom1517 Respectfully, “in God we trust” did not appear on U.S. paper money until 1957 when Eisenhower signed it into law. It was NOT part of Constitution or “centuries,” of American life afterwards. I don’t know why he did it or if he would regret it now. Eisenhower in memoirs did ...
@Bodhi66 @BerniceKing @soccermom1517 ... regret making a campaign stop for commie fear mongering Joseph McCarthy who ruined many people’s lives.
