In 1889 on this day was born a child in Nagpur named Keshav Baliram Hedgewar. He grew up,came to Calcutta to study medicine and came in contact with Bengal revolutionaries,which made him think. He came to the conclusion that Hindus needed to organize themselves as HINDUS (and
not as Brahmins or Shudras,Bengalis or Biharis). So he founded the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) with just 12 boys and became its Adi Sarsanghchalak aka Doctorji.

Mission,a disciple of Swami Akhandanandaji called Madhav Sadashivrao Golwalkar who was anointed the next Sarsanghchalak. He nursed that young plant through tumultuous times,including 3 ban orders till it became the biggest voluntary organization in the world. Vividh Sangathanas
like the BJP,VHP etc were later founded with its inspiration. We Swayamsevaks pledge our undying loyalty to the RSS.
But none of these wud have been possible if one Doctor did not throw aside the cushy life ahead of him and start this with just 12 boys!
