Republicans are trying to object to this moving to the Rules committee after this. But, the chair has the ability to direct where the bill goes, so! It has had two hearings in the Senate.
Now they're hearing amendments to the striker. This is the amendment that tries to remove trucks from the standard...
great demonstration of Republican concerns for our health and climate! 🙄
Exempting trucks fails.
Sen. Gildon trying to allow for the standard to be possibly reduced. This fails too.
Sen. Van de Wege has an amendment that supports the local clean fuels economy and ensures it benefits (which I think it will in the underlying bill, but hey!). He recognizes it needs a little work and his colleagues agree to support and work with him on it. It passes unanimously.
Sen. L Wilson calls this a regressive tax, which it is definitely not!
Carlyle to L Wilson: "the data does not support that."
.@Reuvencarlyle "this is an important policy for decarbonization... this is a policy that is extremely successful, operational and effective" in CA, OR, BC. "We are an outlier as a state." "All of us know that moving forward with decarbonization of transportation... is vital."
Sen. Wagoner says "all of us don't know that" re: transportation decarbonization being vital... 🙃
AND IT PASSES 15-10!!!! 🎉 #cleanfuelsnow to Rules!!!! Then the SENATE FLOOR!
