To clarify: I didn’t mind the word cult in the hashtag. From my perspective it looked like a form of banter.
But I speak from limited experience - no exposure to real cults where I lived.
With @RoamResearch users growing, word definitions may have to be respected
Even if we change the hashtag, the community is still the same. Highly encouraging, very welcoming, and all know how great this tool is.
We don’t want our mission confused and misunderstood with negative influences. We’re here to build the world’s knowledge graph
My role here is to facilitate networked thought for any individual who wants to contribute to said global knowledge graph. May your insights be valuable no matter how atomic they are.
EP3 of S2 is a popular one, with our beloved CSS God @AbhayPrasanna on aesthetics, sovereignty of the mind and more:
When you're doing Roam experiments: when do you start? How far do you go? When do you stop? Abhay goes into further detail on what should be prioritized and feels important in the Roam space, especially with updating CSS:
When should blocks evolve, according to @AbhayPrasanna? He shares their sources and compares the brackets to Pokemon!
"The functionality of Roam becomes an algorithm of thought in itself"
EP 2 of S2 is with the aspiring dunker turned screenwriter turned investor @jmj!
Focusing on what @RoamResearch represents from an investor's perspective, his Investor Frameworks, and more! Here are some highlights (eg. Will he hire a Chief Meme Officer?)
Ever had a 10-hour call while smoking on the porch and drinking beers? That's what happened between both Jeff and @Conaw as they talked about investing in Roam. Oh, and it was compared to Evernote too!:
Highlights from the first 3 eps incoming, starting with @cicatriz of Fractal Inquiry:
Spaced repetition through @RoamResearch is slowly getting implemented in many Roamans' workflows, and here Ryan gives us an idea of how he uses it to dive into a new field, in this example: macroeconomics!
What Ryan is interested in from @RoamResearch recently is tools for incremental reading: using a combination of spaced repetition and reading practices to get the most out of understanding a piece (PDF, video, etc.) and RECALLING what you've learned. Very important!
In today’s news, the new Roam update gave me BLAZING fast search speed (both main search and blockref search). Great stuff @RoamResearch !
Now Imma need that advanced search CTRL+SHIFT+9 as a button on the top bar and we can begin Total Block Synchronicity
Total block synchronicity (like many other phrases I invent) is the transition towards a knowledge management system that emphasizes blocks than pages.
Organizing knowledge by their words/searchability, themes optional.
As page = global closed env, block systems = 1 env
Page as it’s own global block environment means you can ref all blocks within the page to a block
But encouraging block > page refs means no need for closed off global borders by pages.
= DEEPER atomicity leads to increased remixability of notes
But in general a graph where there's a neopet or some kind of pet growing in my Roam graph (feeding it with insightful blocks!? Page links = stats growth!??) would be MINDBLOWING
