Sorry to sound like a revered “youthful” leader but fighting naxals is far beyond simplistic drone/iaf/sf approaches being demanded and is more “structural” 🙄1/n
If there is no legitimate economic activity like in old nagaland, like nscn the naxals will live on extortion from civil officials and forest timber/poaching/mining stealing plus foreign donations and benami investments 2/n
If there is new economic acitivity like new roads and railways, naxals will feed on this too via extortion and ogw workers fronting local businesses 3/n
In all cases sections of local politicians will also be doing profit sharing and payment of haftas in cahoots with business owners 4/n
Sections of local people whether related or via ideology will be eyes and ears around camps and routes of march. Same set of people can easily sell to all sides as good arms traders also do 5/n
Cultivating moles and scaring/inducing away the economic machinery that keeps them going is probably the key incl migration of young people to risk free jobs vs a naxal life in forests , protection from extortion 6/n
And political elements in bed with naxals will have to be pulled out ... ilhwan or infamous sulfa(surrendered ulfa) to go after originals on own or as auxiliaries , hits on key field cmdrs and bomb makers 7/n
I think all of this has been tried over last couple decades and is in process. Swamp is being drained but takes time and in between some big setbacks will be there. Consistency and not losing sight of war in favour of feel good tactical battles.. 8/n
Jharkhand and Chattisgarh are the last bastions of this monster...
