In Part B, we will be talking about University Recommended MEXT.
This is how it works:
First, you have to check for all schools in Japan using: 4icu.org/jp/. If you have a particular city preference, go to the Universities in those cities and check their official
websites. Every school has the University-Recommended MEXT page on their official website.
This is where you will see all the requirements, eligibility, benefits, application rounds, Language proficiency requirement, health, Nationality, and visa requirements.
Please make sure your course is taught in English. Scroll up the page to see. You can also watch the Introductory video.
2. Confirm everything about admission and scholarship here:
They will tell you when MEXT University recommended opens (usually around August-September).
3. Fill the form on the portal and your credentials will be evaluated.
4. If you are shortlisted, the school will reach out to you for a screening exam.
The screening exam is
usually monitored. Your supervisor will set up an exam for you and he will be there throughout the exam time. Your video will be ON till the end of the exam.
He/She will send the exam questions. You will print the exam, solve the questions, upload the answers within a specific
time (usually 3-4hrs).
Note that some schools may not require that you write the exam.
5. Your result will be announced with your registration number, and these are the common results:
i. Passed with Scholarship
ii Passed without Scholarship
iii. Failed.
The summary is that your supervisor will take you through these steps if you can convince him from your email.
That's all for the University Recommended MEXT.
Other routes of getting a scholarship involve a Prof. telling you he/she has internal scholarships/funds in his/her
dept., and he/she is willing to give you. You will be guided on how to get the scholarship.
Let's look at some benefits attached to MEXT Scholarship:
1. No visa fee 2. You will be picked from the airport to your lodge by someone who can speak English.
3. You will be assigned a 'Personal Assistant' for about a year, usually, someone from your lab to help you get basic things in school and at home. This person will help you adapt to the school and environment.
Interestingly, the P.A is paid by the school for helping you,
because you have to sign that you are well taken care of🤣.
4. The stipend is around 145,000 yen/month for masters and 146,000 yen/month for Ph.D. You can save about 70,000 yen/month.
5. You can do TA/GA to get more funds.
6. You will have access to world-class facilities.
7. You will be given a flight back to your home country after your program and will be given an official sent forth.
For sure, you can move to other countries easily from there.
Masters is about 2 years and Ph.D. is about 3 years.
Thanks for reading, make sure you tag your friends.
2. Go to their department and/senate building to inquire about their transcript: They should ask them how best to get their transcripts ASAP. If they can get it before leaving school finally, that will be very good.
Getting transcripts is one of the biggest reasons-
In case you still don't believe that a 2 2 student can get a scholarship, read this:
This is one of the testimonies from the FREE mentorship class we started last year by @AdeleyeSamuelA and I.
(No entrance into that class again, so don't come to my dm to ask.)

When I met her, I told her to remove her CGPA from her CV and dig deep into the professor's research so as to
send a very captivating email.
Her proposed supervisor single-handedly followed up on her matter after a very nice zoom meeting.
Well, the rest, as they say, is history.
She will be sent an official email from the Grad school that has all the benefits soon.
