@Chrissiem18@Wifty8@SealeStu@GraemeHighland1 I understand it quite well I think. The original allegations were only intended to remain on file to be used to make Alex back off if he applied to be an SNP candidate again, to keep him out of elected office. So the fact that the evidence was thin/made up didn't really matter.
@Chrissiem18@Wifty8@SealeStu@GraemeHighland1 However Alex took them to court over the gerrmandered procedure they cooked up to do this, and won. In a fit of fury and revenge the ringleaders decided to involve the police and escalate the whole thing to a criminal prosecution. The original complainants didn't want this, ...
@Chrissiem18@Wifty8@SealeStu@GraemeHighland1 ... I believe because they knew their evidence wouldn't stand up in court. Especially woman H, who clearly invented the entire incident, not expecting it to be properly investigated. The police were then encouraged to find more incidents, under the Moorov doctrine where...
@Chrissiem18@Wifty8@SealeStu@GraemeHighland1 ... a number of similar incidents, independently attested-to, are held to corroborate each other. They also wanted to find complainants who weren't part of NS's wee woke inner circle. Despite a huge operation they found nothing and all they could do was include a clutch of...
@Chrissiem18@Wifty8@SealeStu@GraemeHighland1 ... very minor issues which some of NS's faithful acolytes were prepared to complain about. One of the main conspirators added herself in to this group to get anonymity, and this is how it got to the point that much evidence was disallowed, because her name couldn't...
@Chrissiem18@Wifty8@SealeStu@GraemeHighland1 ... be mentioned in any context, even if it didn't identify her as a complainant. None of this was much good in Moorov terms as a pat on the knee or a touch on the hair can't corroborate attempted rape, it just makes it look silly. Also, these women all knew each other and...
@Chrissiem18@Wifty8@SealeStu@GraemeHighland1 ... were discussing their complaints with each other, so they weren't independently attested as required by Moorov. I understand that the hope of the conspirators was that if the main charges failed (as they were likely to), the jury would find AS guilty on one or two minor...
@Chrissiem18@Wifty8@SealeStu@GraemeHighland1 ... charges as a sort of "split the difference" sop to the prosecution. Then it would be possible to monster him as a convicted sex criminal and basically job done. (They're still trying that even though he was acquitted.) Anyway, that's how I see it.

@liz6153@suzybongoes@ABalharry62 It's fair to note that she didn't and doesn't have Jacinda Ardern's power to close borders completely. It's utterly unrealistic to ignore the fact that she did and does have a lot of scope within the devolved settlement to institute measure that could have massively mitigaged...
@liz6153@suzybongoes@ABalharry62 ... the enormous death toll. Right now she tells us, almost helplessly, that "almost all travel between Scotland and England is currently illegal," and so it is. It could have been made illegal last spring and summer under exactly the same legislative powers, but she bottled it.
@liz6153@suzybongoes@ABalharry62 But now that it is (technically) illegal, we're not in any better a situation because she refuses to police it. She allows Police Scotland to tell everyone not to worry, they won't be stopping cars, it will all be "light touch" and sensitive. We have a travel ban that isn't.
It can't be stressed enough that these people are not talking about actual herd immunity, in which a virus is driven out of the population. That is not achievable without a vaccine. Deadly viruses don't miraculously disappear completely because they made enough people immune.
If that happened we wouldn't need vaccines. Polio, measles, smallpox and so on would just have vanished of their own accord! It isn't herd immunity they're pursuing, it's endemic disease. That's the stage after an epidemic when deaths settle down to a constant lower frequency.
The false use of the term herd immunity, which refers to the disappearance of the virus, is leading people to imagine that this mythical goal will be the end and it will all go away. It won't. Deaths may be hundreds a week rather than hundreds a day but they won't stop.
@jammach@rattlecans@SophiaPangloss Thank you, but I was just expressing my own concerns. I've had to rethink an awful lot about this over the past months.
@jammach@rattlecans@SophiaPangloss I have a MTF trans friend, who came out to me in an emotional late-night phone call over 20 years ago. My gut reaction was it was all a bit weird, but I was sympathetic and what could I do but say "welcome sister". Unprompted, I felt this "cis privilege" thing of having, with...
@jammach@rattlecans@SophiaPangloss ... no effort on my part, the thing he wanted so much. I supported him, I agreed that his skin was getting softer and his figure more feminine, and tried to do girly chat with him although it felt odd. However, I could never think of him as "she" in my mind.
