@davekarpf Democracy requires a super-majority, national consensus to be sustainable. The fact that 45%+ of the population, nationally voted for an anti-democratic, authoritarian regime means that our democracy is in a catastrophic state of crisis, and indeed is only being maintained by
@davekarpf institutional inertia, both governing institutions, but especially industry in the form of large conglomerates, especially tech, which could well have played a decisive roll in prevent Trump from usurping the election. But also included are 'woke corporations'.
@davekarpf That is a terrible position for our country to be in, and many wish it wasn't the case. But it's the frank state of affairs.
All the points about majoritarianism are are good, but don't address the fundamentally grave state of our democracy, which is that one of
@davekarpf our two political parties is rejecting democracy.

After years of searching I still haven't found a suitable replacement for the most perfect steno notebook ever made, this discontinued type from Staples.
The parameters that make it so successful are:
- green tinted sheets
- very stiff front and back cardboard covers.
- a perfect number of pages and resulting thickness.
- sturdy, wire spiral spine that doesn't easily deform.
- Matt cardboard face that's nearly blank.
I've hunted stationary stores and purchased $100s worth of notepads from Amazon many of them so intolerable that I've thrown them away, yet I've found no replacement for it just serviceable substitutes.
