I was listening in the car to @Timodc on @DeadlineWH and he said something about Republicans that I’ve been saying about our Missouri legislature for awhile - it’s just a game to them. /1

The GOP holds a supermajority in Missouri’s legislature. Instead of addressing the very real problems in our state, the bills they propose are parodies of the farthest right wing wish list. The more a piece of legislation triggers the libs, the better./2

Voter ID and restrictive early voting? Sure, why not. Banning IUDs and the morning after pill? You got it. Requiring medically unnecessary pelvic exams for women seeking a medication abortion? Absolutely. Attacking transgender kids and their families? Hell yeah. /3

Guns on public transit, college campuses and in daycares? You betcha. They can’t be bothered addressing our state’s gun violence and suicide rates because they’re too busy stripping away the authority of local health departments. /4

You see most of the laws they pass, including restricting the local governmental control in the state’s population centers, voter suppression laws and laws restricting women’s healthcare don’t really affect them. /5

The GOP caucus in the Missouri legislature is 99% white, 87% male and only about 10% of them represent the urban and suburban areas of the state. /6

If you want information on patriots (attending insurrections), liberty (to die of COVID-19) and noted Missourian Beto O’Rourke, then check out their social media. Any of them. They all sound the same. Cuz ya gotta be part of the clique to play the game. /7

They can’t be bothered with information impacting our lives, empathy for those struggling or respect for anyone who doesn’t think like they do. That’s not fun. That would spoil the game. Unfortunately, for even GOP voters, the “game” isn’t real life. Especially not in Missouri.
