I heard voters on Morning Joe say they think Trump has or had good policies. They just wish he would stop posting on social media and shut up. What policies are they talking about?? The policy where he hands our foreign policy over to Russia like a swag bag full of freebies? /1 Or is it the policy where he trashes our environment and poisons not just but future generations? /2 nytimes.com/interactive/20…

Is this how @DougRichey is “holding gov’t accountable” and “stewarding our tax dollars”? Hawley’s campaign directed taxpayer-paid staff in the AG’s office and racked up $250K in fines. stltoday.com/news/local/gov…

Seems like Republicans in #moleg let Josh Hawley write the playbook for how to use taxpayer resources for campaigns. Eric Schmitt used the AG’s office to get to the U.S. Senate. stltoday.com/news/local/gov…

If you live in a purple or near-purple state, you don’t want what we have in Missouri: a decades long GOP majority that is too incompetent, too heartless, too politically motivated to govern. Thread.

Missouri’s current Attorney General (who is running for governor). A sitting member of the Missouri Senate. In one screenshot he is responding to a tweet about teens walking into homes as part of a TikTok challenge. In another, he is literally taking a swing at one of Missouri’s largest employers that sent ONE beer can to a TikTok influencer. ImageImageImage

Imagine being the type of person (aka Republican politician) who says “Hey, we need to mobilize our voters so let’s pick on an already marginalized group of kids and their families”. nytimes.com/2023/04/16/us/… Bullying transgender adults and CHILDREN “was also the result of careful planning by national conservative organizations…”. Which national conservative organizations? One of them is Alliance Defending Freedom, the same one pushing the abortion bans. /2 Image

If people look at Missouri and think “Whew. I’m glad I don’t live there.” Allow me to introduce you to our revolving door of AG’s who are gumming up nation-wide policies through lawsuits and amicus briefs. /1 The mifepristone ban? I really don’t belong here anymore. 56% of Missourians say the state is headed in the right direction. 47% approve of Josh Hawley. stltoday.com/news/local/gov… In a state with some of the poorest health metrics in the country (cancer, flu deaths, heart disease, maternal mortality, teen pregnancy, gun deaths) and poor access to healthcare, only 18% of Missourians cite healthcare as a top priority for Missouri.

Yesterday, PBS NewsHr aired a report from the DNC where vaccine hesitancy and outright anti-vaxx sentiment has grown because of vaccine disinformation on social media. This week, Twitter will no longer moderate COVID-19 disinformation on their platform. /1 cnn.com/2022/11/29/tec… Why? Because Twitter’s new owner says that everyone dies of something. Early in the pandemic, we didn’t know people could spread the virus BEFORE showing symptoms. It was assumed that a person couldn’t spread the virus until or shortly before symptoms developed. Once we had a better understanding of the virus, the position on masks was reversed. /1 Also, early in pandemic, hospitals didn’t have enough PPE. Remember RNs and MDs wearing trash bags and using the same mask for mask for a week? It made sense to conserve these things for healthcare workers. Spouse’s hospital had to rely on DONATIONS of masks. /2

🧵 of the lawsuits Eric Schmitt has filed as Missouri’s AG. Many have cost taxpayers twice - the cost of the AG office resources and the cost to defend the suits. This is a long thread. 92% of OBGYN residents reported having access to some level of abortion training in 2020, according to a study in the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists’ journal. I had an ectopic pregnancy rupture. I had been to the ER twice with spotting/cramping. They couldn’t find a yolk sac. My OB/GYN wanted to “wait to see if it was a viable pregnancy”. Before I could get to another doctor, the pregnancy ruptured my Fallopian tube. /1 Excruciating pain like nothing I ever experienced before or since. Split screen in Missouri Capitol. On the left, the Republican-sponsored HB 1995 demanding *more* transparency from schools. On the right, the governor is trying to make the inner workings of state government *less* transparent to the public. /1 In case you’re wondering where this new found GOP for us of school “transparency” comes from, it comes from the guy who created the anti-CRT chaos. It’s an evolution of a political strategy to win more elections (aka VA). They don’t care about transparency. /2
