It's been two years since the 2019 Mythic Invitational, the biggest Magic tournament ever. It had the biggest prize pool, the biggest twitch numbers and it was the first big Arena tournament. The production value was insane, the event was hosted by Day9, it was a great watch.
I did well. I remember getting multiple messages from people I haven't talked to in years, telling me that they're watching this tournament, and that it looks awesome. I felt like a rockstar. Before the top 4 matches started, the War of the Spark trailer was about to premiere.
I remember sitting in the largest crowd I've ever seen at a Magic event, watching this trailer, tearing up because how awesome it was and thinking about how bright the future of competitive Magic looks. The whole experience gave me hope.
Here I am, two years later about to play in some of the HIGHEST stake matches of my career against the best players in the world.

No one knows it's happening.

No one cares it's happening.

It's sad.
I wonder where we went wrong, but all I know is that I wish I could be back in Boston watching Liliana kick Bolas' ass, listening to that Linkin Park song, smiling and thinking about how things are looking up.

Since people asked.

This weekend the Strixhaven League Weekend is happening. The name is a bit confusing, because no Strixhaven cards will be legal, the set comes out next week.

I'm currently tied for 2nd, 1 point behind first. 12 rounds, 1 win = 1 point.

1st after this weekend goes to Worlds and locks their MPL slot.

The format is complicated.

Rounds 1-3 and 7-10 are Standard, rest is Historic.

At the start we get pooled into 3 groups of 8. The pools change after every format change based on current standings.

1st round of each pod the pairing is predetermined.

1st plays 2nd, 3rd plays 4th, etc.

I'm playing Brad Nelson round 1. Our head to head is 0-2, so I'm bit of an underdog.

My decks are lit.

Wish me luck and see you at Worlds!
