How to avoid wasting your life:

(a thread)
Aim for patient wealth, not get rich quick schemes.

Aim for lifelong integrity, not virtue signalling.

Aim for persistent happiness, not bite-sized dopamine hits.

Aim for permanent contentment, not a chain of desires.

Aim for lasting freedom, not annual holidays.
If you're intelligent, you won't be offended by being wrong.

If you've mastered the skill, you won't be hurt by failure.

If you possess character, you'll be indifferent to praise & criticism.

If you're internally at peace, you won't be angered by reality.
To break habits, change internal reputation.

To become free, be unexposed to external reputation.
A calm mind, a loving family and a dream to chase.

These things renew humanity.
Success tests humility.

Failure tests mastery.
If you want to be happy, teach your brain to see the truth in every situation.
An underrated lesson:

It's hard to be angry with the world when you're not angry with yourself.
A secret to life: Give, without the expectation of a reward, and you will receive the true prize.
Giving is ancient wealth.

Consumption is modern poverty.
Smart people take personal responsibility.

Dumb people take things personally.
Harsh truth:
No amount of external validation will ever fix your desire for internal gratification.
News, politics and gossip corrupt the ability to foster peace of mind.
Material wealth is overrated. Mental wealth is underrated.

Paycheck slavery is overrated. Freedom is underrated.

Mindless activity is overrated. Peace of mind is underrated.

Degrees are overrated. Learning is underrated.

Status is overrated. Integrity is underrated.
Generosity and empathy come naturally once you realise your self-unimportance.
If you are enraged by a fool, who is the fool?
Intelligent people disagree and remain friends.

Fools are offended with everything that doesn't match their set of opinions.
Exercise to exercise. Not to update your peer group on your ability to function as a human being.

Eat healthily for health. Not to update your instagram.

Read books to build wisdom. Not to signal 'sophistication' on social media.
If you can unlearn that which is no longer true without regard for your ego, opinions or beliefs, you are intelligent.
Remind yourself:

Each day, I will hear the truth without taking offense.
The hallmark of failure is wishing failure upon others.
I deserve to make a living by doing what I love.

Say this everyday, then make yourself worthy of it.
You never learn to be humble.

You learn, which in turn makes you humble.
Instant gratification creates instant dissatisfaction.

Play the long games in life.
Society values the illusion of happiness (social media) over the real thing (internal peace).

Society values the illusion of wealth (debt) over the real thing (financial freedom).

Society values the illusion of character (status) over the real thing (internal reputation).

MARCUS AURELIUS

Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth.
When you arise in the morning, think of what a privilege it is to be alive, to think, to enjoy, to love.

1) I don’t care how rich you are. I don’t care whether you’re a top Wall Street banker. If somebody has to tell you when to be at work, what to wear and how to behave, you’re not a free person. You’re not actually rich.

3) Strong minds discuss ideas, average minds discuss events, weak minds discuss people.
