"did you see trea turner's homer in the bottom of the third to tie the game with the braves? the nationals are really bringing the heat" - me, being a baseball guy now
this is going to be difficult. do i try to watch every game i can? is tracking the games with the mlb app good enough? considering im out of market, what percentage of watched games is acceptable?
(dont have these issues w nfl, just watch as many games as possible)
how many players should i know? i plan to watch the highlight wrap-ups on youtube. i studiously want to be a two-sport guy this year!!
and no, im not going to watch the rays. my sports team allegiances are pretty set in stone.
1. washington football 2. washington nationals 3. washington wizards (i really dont care) 4. baltimore orioles 4. miami marlins (mostly out of nostalgia i hate the new name/uniform)
right now my sports fandom is a concentrated burst between september and early january (most years it ends in very early january) but then from jan-september im not into anything. of all the remaining sports i understand/like baseball the most.

is marsha blackburn trying to sell the infrastructure bill?
the next phase of this will be
$700 BILLION TOWARDS PUPPIES
$700 BILLION TOWARDS KITTIES
$800 BILLION TO PANDAS AND OTHER CUTE ANIMALS
$300 BILLION FOR 20 MORE MARVEL MOVIES (INC XMEN)
$900 BILLION FOR COMFORTABLE SHOES
$1 TRILLION FOR REALLY SOFT COMFORTERS, LIKE GOOSE DOWN
and then the left will hit biden for not allocating a total of $2 trillion to puppies and kittens and he'll compromise to a "hard cap of $1.8 trillion for doggos and kitty cats"
in addition to this, she also was a right-wing pundit and she went after the "wreck it ralph" sequel for promoting feminism, which she said makes kids bad americanindependent.com/gop-senate-can…
one of the few things limbaugh wasnt lying about: he really was their "anchorman." every day millions of conservatives had no idea how to process the news until limbaugh chewed it up for them then regurgitated it for them like little baby birds.
he had his "stack of stuff" and it was always like "they say this is the news but let me tell you what's *really* in the news"
i dont think any single person will have as much influence over conservatism, especially for such a long period, ever again.
how do i get liberals to understand that 9/10 your point by point refutation is useless and just helps conservatives? swing at the issue with a baseball bat. your tactical response just helps them.
conservatives are very aware of the fact that if they throw out 20 random things on a topic, liberals will spend the next day "debunking" each individual thing. they do it on purpose. you dont get anywhere. nobodys going to look at your beautiful rebuttal and say you "won."
eg of what you shouldnt do, imo.
lib: roses are red
con: roses cause cancer! roses are socialism! roses are what hitler used! roses dont actually work.
lib: well, actually, you're missing the point on roses, let me explain why your rose claims are each wrong...
every time the right throws up chaff, the msm covers it
years ago i used to honestly believe the press could be reformed to exercise judgement on its own. i no longer believe this. the only way forward is for democrats and progressives to throw out as much chaff as the right, if not more.
republicans propose something? point out immediately and repeatedly how it will make bad stuff happen.
tax cuts will lead to decreased fertility and low sperm count
deregulation will lead to irradiated water
small govt will lead to sick people bleeding out on the sidewalk
a lot of people will totally forget all of this happened. on the other hand i really dont want to see it much in movies and tv, at least in fiction. its always hamfisted and comes across so damn weird. im kind of ok with pretending it didnt happen, at least in fiction.
for some reason i always remember a law and order that aired a little after 9/11 and they shoehorned in a reference when benson says "after the towers fell." and i was always like "just dont bother."
the show is in ny so eventually itll come up but it was too soon.
on "this is us" they just had a story where an elderly relative flies across country and he arrives to see newborns and theyre like "oh uh he was vaccinated and he's been tested so its ok." and its just like dont bother just tell a story.
