The Chinese Communist Party is taking a page right out of Russia’s disinformation playbook.

They’re pushing multiple conflicting conspiracy theories through state-run media accounts about how the virus originated and painting themselves as the real victim.

A case study:
.@zlj517 is pushing the false conspiracy theory that the Chinese coronavirus originated in the United States.

Reality check: we are experiencing a global pandemic because in China people are eating wildlife obtained at unregulated markets.
Conflictingly, state-run news outlets in China are pinning the origins of the outbreak on Italy.

Reality check: early accounts of a pneumonia-like virus in November & December 2019 were in Wuhan. But the #CCP silenced doctors and destroyed early COVID-19 testing kits.
