Jonah Westbury, 26, of Lindstrom, was arrested Friday morning. The charges will likely be unsealed later in the day.

Prosecutors not seeking detention, only conditional release.
Judge Thorson is signing off on release. Westbury must report to D.C. District Court via Zoom next week. Charges should be unsealed soon now that Westbury appeared.
Details of Westbury's charges have been unsealed. They say he recorded selfie videos of himself inside the Capitol, saying: “First time in the Capitol. First time in the Capitol… I’m proud of every fucking

I'm at an extremely well guarded MN Capitol, where several pro-Trump rallies are planned this weekend. Today's group has a permit for 150 ppl and have publicly warned agitators to stay home. This is the designated "First Amendment Zone," security told me

Chief Arradondo says suspect fired first at police. Suspect pronounced dead at scene. Officers and passenger unharmed. BCA investigating. More tk

Big federal charges this morning. Ivan Hunter, a 26 yo member of the far-right Boogaloo Bois, is charged with shooting up Minneapolis' third precinct (which he helped set on fire) and screaming "Justice for Floyd!" during Mpls unrest. Full story tk
This was part of a coordinated attack from Boogaloos in Mpls that week, apparently to ramp up violence. Hunter told friends to "go for police buildings."
One revelation from the complaint is that Hunter was in communication w/ fellow Boogaloo Steve Carillo the night the Minneapolis precinct burned. A few hours before this exchange, Carillo killed a police officer in CA, according to charges there.

Over the past few days, footage I streamed while covering protests outside the @realDonaldTrump rally in Minneapolis has been cited as evidence that @Ilhan participated in an "antifa riot." As the @AP fact checkers confirmed, this is false. What really happened: A thread.

It was a planned protest of the Trump event, attended by hundreds of ppl, mostly peaceful, though late in the evening some agitators did become violent and confrontational.
