'Some think the pandemic is over'| Some Triad counties seeing vaccine supply outweigh demand google.com/amp/s/www.wfmy…
“ Even though people ages 16 and older are now eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, Conway Medical Center says demand for the vaccine has actually slowed down.” google.com/amp/s/www.wmbf…
“ Debra Bradley, St. Joseph health director, said that most of the county’s vaccine allotment will go to pharmacies if the clinic shuts down, and she agrees that if there is not a demand then the clinic becomes unnecessary.” newspressnow.com/news/local_new…
Could go on and on. These are all, almost exclusively, local outlets. It’s not a national story yet, but it sure is a trend. It will pop in a few days. But this is a serious public policy conundrum, and I don’t see much acknowledgment of it yet from relevant officials.
Zients’ comment today that the J&J thing doesn’t matter because we have all the supply in the world suggests the admin would prefer to pretend that the demand wall just doesn’t exist. That is short sighted and they’ll regret it soon enough.
One more from my home state, and one of its most populated counties: “COVID Vaccine Sites 'Grossly Underused:' Essex County Executive” patch.com/new-jersey/liv…
NJ’s vaccination record has been surprisingly good, considering our record when it comes to efficient public services. An indication that the issue is not access or supply.

A slightly nuanced take on the implosion of the Russia bounties story, which is indicative only of how discourse on this website is not only unhelpful but an obstacle to the fullest understanding of events. Apologies in advance, but it’s a thread…
When the story broke, my take on it was A) we shouldn’t know about it, because leaking this claim all but forecloses on the possibility of substantiating it sufficient to prove the charge. But also B) it’s *plausible.* commentarymagazine.com/noah-rothman/w… Here’s why…
If you recall, when the story dropped it was accompanied with the allegation that Iran was also putting a price on American heads. cnn.com/2020/08/17/pol… That allegation is supported by evidence and testimony going back to 2005 fdd.org/analysis/2010/…
What was Donald Trump doing between 2:26 p.m and 5:40 p.m. on January 6. Until we get the answer to that question, affirmed under oath by a witness to his conduct, this chapter in American history cannot be definitively closed.
2:26 p.m.: Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund: "I am making an urgent, urgent immediate request for National Guard assistance."
Interim: ????
5:40 p.m.: National Guard arrives at the capitol.
Democrats do not want witnesses to answer this question because to compel that testimony would take a while & precludes legislating. And Democrats think they need to prove economic bona fides to voters. So, this is all just about politics, and it's absolutely enraging.
"Less than a third of doses delivered to Pennsylvania and New Jersey had been administered, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention..." inquirer.com/health/coronav…
"Gov. Phil Murphy said Friday that the state could administer more doses if the federal government would send more." nj.com/coronavirus/20…
Probably true. But in crass political terms, the point of diminishing returns in associating with Trump's movement may have been reached. And there's a duty to posterity here. Threatening the legislative branch with a mob must be rendered an unthinkable prospect again.
You cannot do that by fencing in the Capitol or surrounding it with national guardsmen. Force will be met with more force. The only means by which that can be achieved in a lasting way are legal, legitimate acts. The primacy of the legislative branch must be reestablished.
And in more practical terms, this president has violated his oath of office and, judging from some of the statements we've seen out of regional commanders, may not even have the confidence of his own military. His capacity to act as CIC is compromised. That's unacceptable.
Mitt Romney pulling no punches: “Now, we gather due to a selfish man’s injured pride, and the outrage of supporters who he has deliberately misinformed for the past two months and stirred to order this very morning..."
What happened here today was an insurrection incited by the President of the United States.”
“Those who continue to support his dangerous gambit by objecting to the results of the democratic election will forever be seen as being complicit in an unprecedented attack against our democracy.”
