2. And (remember) when his Lord tried Abraham with (His) commands, and he fulfilled them, He said: Lo! I have appointed thee a leader for mankind. (Abraham) said: And of my offspring (will there be leaders)? He said: My covenant includeth not wrong-doers. (Quran 2:124) 2/n
3. All the messengers We sent before you [Muhammad] were men to whom We made revelations, men chosen from the people of their towns. (Quran 12: 109) 3/n
The questions that perturb me:
1. Though Allah is omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient, does He not sound a bit aristocratic in preferring certain "lineages" and "descent"? 4/n

2. Why was Abraham interested in the question of leadership (Imamat) for his offspring in the first place? As a thought experiment, if one proclaims that the leadership shall be with the Chitpawan Brahmins, except the "wrong-doers" among them, how will this be interpreted? 5/n
3. The Quran says that there were no women messengers before Prophet Muhammad. There cannot be women messengers after Prophet Muhammad since he was the last messenger. The highest spiritual office looks closed for women. What import does this have for gender equality? 6/n
