During his lifetime, the esteemed Maulana had left no stone unturned in ensuring that Baba-e-Qaum Abdul Qaiyum Ansari, one of the tallest leader of Pasmanda Muslims, was not made a minister in the Congress government. 2/n
After the Partition, it was due to Maulana’s efforts that the ‘Musanghis’ turned secular overnight and were accommodated in the Congress regime by chanting Nehru’s name. 3/n
It was due to Maulana’s mediation that the Ashraf class, which had played a significant role in the creation of Pakistan, was rewarded whereas the Pasmanda Muslims, that had thoroughly opposed the idea of Pakistan, were rendered a secondary position in the Congress Party. 4/n
Post-Independence, the Congress party has continuously appeased the Ashraf Muslim class at the expense of the interests of Pasmanda Muslims. 5/n
After 1857, Sir Syed provided leadership to the Ashraf sections. After 1947, Maulana Azad led the remaining Ashrafs and secured their interests. Both were extremely capable and educated personalities. Both must be considered the central icons of the Ashraf Muslims. 6/6
