We stands in support of the historic lawsuit filed by the @CalDFEH against @Cisco for caste-based discrimination.

This lawsuit marks the first time in U.S. history that any institution is being held accountable for caste-based discrimination.

We support tech workers around the world who are speaking up about casteism & hostile workplaces.

Caste-oppressed workers face many barriers throughout the tech industry, including at Alphabet.
Caste is a system of oppression analogous to racial discrimination & is rampant throughout many American institutions.

Alphabet’s anti-discrimination policy in India already explicitly prohibits caste-based discrimination, but that policy doesn’t apply in the US.
The US Equal Opportunity Employment statement in Alphabet’s code of conduct doesn’t list caste as a protected class.

Alphabet can lead the industry and become the first technology company to add caste as a protected category globally.
Sundar Pichai made a commitment to addressing racial equity. Alphabet must commit to caste equity with the same urgency.

Recognizing and addressing caste-based discrimination will benefit Alphabet, its workers, and its users worldwide.
Caste should be recognized as a protected class by the federal government and be included in anti-harassment policies within our industry.

Caste-oppressed workers have the right to a safe workplace.

This is why we have committed to this fight.
The fight for the civil rights of caste-oppressed people is a workers’ fight.

Solidarity always.

Our statement on yesterday's coup attempt at the Capitol.

Social media companies, including YouTube, an Alphabet product, bear tremendous responsibility for the growing fascist movement in the US.

We have organized against this before & we stand ready to do so again—as a union. ImageImage
Text: Alphabet Workers Union Statement on Yesterday's Insurrection
Yesterday, a mob of fascists, urged on by the sitting president of the United States, stormed the Capitol in Washington, D.C. in an attempt to prevent the certification of the results of the presidential election.
Donald Trump then celebrated the insurrectionists in a video posted on social media, including on his YouTube channel, where he told armed fascists, "We love you, you're very special."

We're Alphabet workers. We’ve been organizing for over a year, & we’re finally ready to share why.

This morning, we're announcing #AWU, the first union open to *all* workers at any Alphabet company.

Every worker deserves a union—including tech workers.

The past few years at Google have been tumultuous: secret military AI projects, multi-million dollar payouts to execs who sexually harassed our coworkers, profiting from hate speech, & more.

Coworkers who've voiced concerns have even been fired, illegally, as retaliation.
And the only thing that's changed anything is worker organizing.

Worker organizing got Project Maven & Project Dragonfly cancelled.

It got 20,000+ Googlers to walk out against sexual harassment.

It got $15 min wage & healthcare for contractors.

And it's going to get us more.
