.@billmaher Connects church to the movies. "Less than half of Americans go to church. They don't have to. If they want to feel guilty, dirty and bad they can watch Nomadland."
"Academy awards used to say 'look at what good movies we make' now they say 'look at what great people we are' "
"In 2021 if you're wondering at the movies and wondering 'which one is the bad guy', it's you. Because you have indoor plumbing and the nominees don't."
"Why do so many liberals have this seeming desire to want to be sad. Could it be because being sad feels like you're doing something about a problem without actually having to do anything."

In today's video I begin to touch on the crisis in the evangelical church. 1/11
A friend shared the recent @drmoore newsletter with me which I found deeply touching in terms of his pastoral and evangelistic heart 2/11 erlcemailcommunication.cmail19.com/t/ViewEmail/r/…
Saying "there is a crisis in the church of believing its own message" I think isn't the best way to articulate the crisis. I'd say the church isn't able to embody its own promises, realize the expectations it raises or compete with expectations of others. 3/11

Today's video was an absolutely outstanding conversation between myself, @JeanPhi76459673 and @vervaeke_john 1/5
@JeanPhi76459673 launched this a few months ago when he began to look at CS Lewis' book Miracles. A book I endlessly promote on my channel because of it's deep impact in my life. 2/5 thesymbolicworld.com/articles/inves…
Here was our first conversation which was dramatic. 3/5

Spoke today with @kalezelden. Another powerful conversation. He shared penetratingly about the church's (not just RC) abandonment of Generation X.

One homeless guy who've I've been friends with for a decade has changed his mind about another guy who I've only known for about 6 months. #1 thinks I should evict #2 from outside my door once named "The Foundation of the Lord". (long story)
#1 is upset that #2 gets more money each month AND he panhandles. It is a source of pride to #1 that he doesn't panhandle.
#1 is upset that #2 steals from the local stores. His father taught him that being a thief and a liar are wrong. I've known #1 to lie and steal very regularly and he is banned from many local stores for stealing.

I found @BretWeinstein appearance on @joerogan quite interesting. I am in alignment with some of his ideas about the sources of economic inequality and the failure of the Democratic party. I too have pretty much left that party behind.
I thought the story of the intentional destruction of the black family was told in a compelling way and made some good points. That certainly is part of the tragedy of the black community in America.
I shared some of his disappointments over the performance of the Obama administration. For me that data point undermines his "big fix" which involves a better POTUS. Certainly a better POTUS is an improvement, but insufficient to address the broad maladies we face.

Thanks @coneheadthebar1 for the kind invitation to simplify my language and use less jargon to @ScottAdamsSays 's "systemic racism" challenge.
The example of "systemic racism" that @ScottAdamsSays will like is an obvious one. npr.org/2019/10/01/730…
"explaining" is sort of like "proving". It has to be received and therefore subject to all sorts of other games.
