Today Republicans in the Legislature voted to send an anti-LGBTQ, anti-sex education bill to the Governor's desk to sign into law. Here is why we need to urge the Governor to veto the bill #SB1456
#SB1456 is an overly broad and invasive bill that affects not only sex-education curriculum, but all instruction and learning materials in the classroom
This bill harms LGBTQ youth by labeling #LGBTQ history as "taboo" by requiring permission to simply discuss history about people like Harvey Milk and the landmark SCOTUS cases that legalized gay marriage.
This bill does nothing to protect survivors of abuse or to protect children from understanding abuse/consent/dating violence. Meanwhile Senator @NavarreteAZ's Safe and Healthy Students Act would've taught students about healthy relationships and consent.
This bill is a huge step back from the progress Arizona made in 2019 when we removed barriers for LGBTQ+ representation in schools. This bill makes all HIV/AIDS instruction opt-in, labeling this important education as taboo & only available via permission slip
Learning consent, fostering healthy relationships and identifying risk factors are positive life-long skills and major components of comprehensive sex education. We need to lay a foundation at an early age for future learning about health and development.
When we withhold critical info our young people need, it will only further push already marginalized people from resources, and maintain unjust health disparities. This bill will hurt, not help our children and we urge Governor @dougducey to veto #SB1456

#SB1069 is a continuation of Senator Ugenti-Rita's obsession with ending the Permanent Early Vote List, which 3.2 million Arizona voters have signed up for and used successfully since the Legislature passed it in 2007.
There are other bills that are more technical, but continue the lies that Arizona's election was fraudulent or not secure. #SB1083 increases the threshold that triggers an automatic recount for all races, including by repealing exemption for specified races...
