However, a handful of the most powerful clubs (think US owned ones and RM) are continuing to lobby their rivals to join them in a breakaway Super League. Germans and French seem committed to UEFA plans at this point.
The “football is a mess” element of this means people pushing for a breakaway behind the scenes also sit on the committee that endorsed new format for UEFA’s executive to vote through on Monday. Conflicts of interest galore.
Some chatter last few days, too, that Super League backers will break cover before UEFA’s own announcement on Monday if they have a few teams signed up. Very messy. Needlessly messy.
