Posting this here. Incredibly disappointed to see @MarkRober raising money for a charity attached to AS, and even more disappointed to see how many influencers and celebrities are attached to it.

There's a lot to be upset about in that video (implying every autistic person has a "superpower" or is a savant, the use of person first language, the implication that autistic people can't contribute anything of value to society except generic "positivity")

Not to mention there are almost no autistic people in the comments, just a flood of neurotypical people who know autistic people talking about how great the work he's doing is. Where are the autistic voices?

In conclusion: @MarkRober @jimmykimmel and everyone else who put this event together: listen to #ActuallyAutistic voices. Include them in your event planning. Listen to them when they tell you where to put your money. Listen to them when they criticize you for this move.

If you want to donate your money to a group that's not attached to a hate group, try @autselfadvocacy or @awnnetwork_ . If you need to educate yourself on why ABA and and Autism Speaks are bad, seek out autistic voices, starting with @autisticats and the #ActuallyAutistic tag

Since I've just learned the event has a hashtage: I'm throwing it in this thread. #colorthespectrum is a bad move and the money should be going to autistic led groups
