Thrilling conversation on Clubhouse right now - some disco Khalistanis from America alongside some desi Woko Haram trying very very hard to subtly justify the Hindu deaths in the Delhi riots
An American lady EXTREMELY confidently claiming BJP will lose Maharastra if elections are held today. Not sure about Bengal
A lovely lady from Tamil Nadu confidently claims - Dalits are not Hindus. Her argument slightly diluted by the 5 mins she took to pronounce Hindutva
The Woko Haram lady ranting very convincingly against maths and statistics now - as facts go against 'lived experiences'
The good lady is throwing 25 words per second after someone asked why BJP keeps getting more and more Dalit votes.....
Side note - these folks are all very eloquent and full of conviction. Also very knowledgeable about the US. Pity they are discussing social dynamics in Sitamarhi and Murshidabad.
Someone wanted to discuss Hindu persecution in Pakistan - intense discussion lasted 13 seconds. Maybe 15. Don't hold me to this.
Woko Haram lady screaming 'DO YOU KNOW WHAT IS HAPPENING WITH OCI PEOPLE'

In response to someone again daring to ask about Hindus in Pakistan

Folks, whats happening to OCI folks? She sounds extremely angry
No one bothered to explain whats happening to the OCI folks - this is a cliffhanger worse than the Sopranos finale
A very nice gentleman spoke for 27 hours (felt that way) without a specific point.
Disco Khalistani throwing people out left and right for challenging the views of his favourite ladies

After throwing people out, makes a beautiful mini-speech on freedom of speech
One person got cancelled because his profile said 'For Hindu lives and rights'. Because what about other lives?

Not a BLM fan I guess, this person
Massive consensus in the room - Manusmriti is used by Hindus in their daily lives even today
My quick super-scientific analysis reveals the following - the stronger the western accent, the greater the confidence about how caste system works in India today
They are publicly barbequing a lady for mentioning Hindus in Afghanistan.

The Woko Haram lady is calling this lady 'fake woke liberal'. Didn't see this twist coming.
The poor lady begins to cry. Moderator laugh her out of the group

Woko Haram lady calls the tears of the brown Hindu girl as 'white lady tears'
Everyone busy mocking the girl for bringing up how her grandparents were kicked out of Pakistan

30 mins ago, the same group kicked out a person saying only they can talk about 1984 riots as one of their grandfather got killed in the riots

A minor inconsistency here, no?
Eloquent gentleman is very confident that Hindus will keep winning elections permanently

Look at the silver lining here, they feel elections will keep happening.
I think after Ambedkar, the greatest caste experts are in this Clubhouse room. They have an answer to every question on caste except why BJP support is completely dominated by OBC and SC voters
Almost everyone here describing themselves as Savarna Hindus - or may be its Sarvanna Hindus?

I understand being a fan of Sarvanna Bhawan but I think they are open to all religions
Someone mistakenly said the word 'genocide' should be used carefully

Disco Khalistani protests saying 40000 Sikhs were killed in the 1980s - uses the 1.5 million Armenians killed by Turkey as a comparision

Consistent evidence that mathematics is a development need here.
A nice guy challenging the competency of the moderators

Insists the group should come up with a final solution instead of just discussing stuff

I would have phrased it differently but OK.
Remarkable how all the Khalistanis hold BJP responsible for the 1984 riots
Everyone listening in rapt attention to the story of a Sikh gentleman of the struggle his family faced moving from Pakistan in 1947

Barely 15 mins have passed after they all laughed a crying woman out of the room for doing the exact same thing
I will be honest - the Sikh gentleman is losing my vote for Clubhouse president.

Now claiming Hindustan shouldn't exist and everything is a massive Brahminical conspiracy
The good man seems really annoyed with Hindus existing - may be I should apologise on everyone's behalf?

Ends by saying "we will be the final nail in India's coffin. Khalistan Zindabad"
Toolkit superhero Mo Dhaliwal has entered the building - lined up as one of the upcoming speaker

Ajit Dovak ji, I am an innocent bystander here. Please don't arrest me
The Khalistani supreme commander seemed a tad drunk - so India is definitely safe till tomorrow noon. All bets are off in the afternoon
Now everyone is abusing Gandhiji

Someone extremely angry why he called Dalits as Harijan and not 'Human'
A very convincing argument was just made

Gandhiji was racist and that is why Black Lives Matter activists are breaking his statues worldwide
A pleasant Christian guy emphasizng emphatically how rare it is for a Savarna person to treat a Dalit well
Insane trolling just happened - Khalistani moderator dumbstruck when someone requested all to join a discussion on the Kanishka bombing by Khalistanis

Khalistanis now threatening to do the same but sadly Air Khalistan never took off
Mo Dhaliwal speaking now - hinting that Khalistanis have nothing to do with the Air India bombing.
Sadly - its time to end this exhilarating journey now. Learnt so much

Have to say the Khalistanis are very committed to their view. And really optimistic about their success. They emphasize how they are ready to support every separatist movement in India

Good night folks!

The famous pic from 1971 - Pak soldier checking if the genitals are Bengali.
This is the book Tripathi uncle asks everyone to read to understand how Bengali Hindus were not targeted

See what the book says

Telegram from the US consulate in March 1971

Very high casualties, Hindus the main focus of the campaign

A carefully planned long-term campaign of disinformation creates a fertile ground for justifying extreme acts of violence which otherwise would be indefensible
Since 2019, there has been a well-coordinated and consistent international effort to paint Modi as a tyrant – in 2019 the reason was Kashmir, in 2000 it was CAA and this year the farmers protest
The features of the narrative building have been remarkably similar every instance – untethered from facts, present anti-Modi operatives as neutral experts, out of context visuals and use of democratic freedoms to paralyze the host country

The popular narrative we have always been used to is that democratic societies are much stronger and resilient than autocratic ones - but how does that play out in practice?
Last year an obscure middle-manager in the NBA made some comments mildly supportive of the Hong Kong protestors - China's response to this insignificant event was worth taking note of
Mega-stars like Lebron James, who otherwise would love to ride the Woko Haram bus to glory, said people should think before talking - essentially do not piss the Chinese off as our revenue stream from that market immediately dries up

It will soon be 3 months since COVID shut down the world.

A lifetime worth of important insights can be gleaned from how countries reacted to it. Here are a few which seemed important to me
Trust in what the government says is very high in East Asia (Japan,SK,Taiwan,SGP,HK), robust in India and signs of severe decline in USA/UK

Lack of trust should be a leading indicator of political instability
Scientists and technical experts need to be trained on how to communicate difficult concepts to the mass public - especially the levels of uncertainty in their models and what that means for decision-making

Yesterday was the 75th anniversary of the end of WW2

Could you name this country from the war?

9th largest fighting force - 2.5 mil soldiers
~90k dead
~35k wounded
~68k PoWs

One of the very few countries active in European,African & Asian theaters of battle
India's major role in WW2 is never discussed in India. And barring some references to it within UK, the world has long forgotten our contribution

But it is interesting to compare some numbers.....
Indian casualties

1962 war: 1400
1965 war: 3000
1971 war: 4000
IPKF: 1200
Kargil: 600
JK insurgency: 5500

The sum of what we have lost in the major conflicts of the Indian Republic is less than 20% of what we lost in WW2

With videos of stranded migrants flooding SM and TV screens, it may be difficult to say this - but overall the lock-down has been reasonably successful
Every sixth human being on the planet is an Indian - we are asking a country of 1.3b to pause their lives. We are still in Week 1 and it has been much less chaotic, violent and ill-disciplined than it could be
India is not just Anand Vihar bus adda or Kerala's border towns

The helpless stranded people we see on our screens need urgent help and support - but overall they form a tiny percentage of the whole Indian nation
