reminder: Bill Clinton signed a bill that outlawed assault weapons in this country.
seems inconceivable today.
George W. Bush let the ban expire
basically, the rigged Fla recount in 2000 and Supreme Court stopping the vote counting, is why we have assault weapons plague in this country today
btw, how radical of a shift has there been re: GOP behavior on guns? In 1999, 31 Senate Republicans voted in favor of mandating background checks at gun shows. In 1994, 42 House Republicans voted for President Bill Clinton's crime bill, which included a ban on assault weapons.

“the reality is that Fox News continues to be a deliberate cancer on this country, and any attempts to help legitimize it — by pretending it deserves to be alongside CNN in the White House briefing room — is not only wrong, it's dangerous.”
"Working hard to reestablish an open, professional relationship with the Beltway press corps, Psaki has perhaps done more than anyone in the administration — including Biden himself — in terms of changing the tone in our politics"
“Unhurried, rarely flustered, and never instigating a fight, Psaki is not only the pitch-perfect public voice of Biden, she's also what the nation needs right now —competence and confidence”
“Obviously an attempt to erase a story as big as the Gaetz scandal doesn't happen by accident. We're witnessing a deliberate, top-down attempt by Fox News to unplug an important political story simply because the man at the center is a Republican and a vociferous Trump loyalist”
