Who are those supporting Farmajo’s long planned 2 years extension his expired mandate and parliamentarians?
Thread
1/ There are Fahad, Mursal and few MP’s
Including Mursal who fear they will not return to their lucrative seats due to clans or sub clans competing that seat ($3500 +monthly salary excluding benefits and ministerial benefits for almost doing nothing),
2/ Not for the love of Farmajo or shared political ideologies or building institutions which Somalia desperately needs.
3/ First, Somalia provisional Constitution is a political constitution (where political consensus takes [supremacy] over legal one,
PL and JL are part of the solutions not as a problem,
4/ regardless where one’s allegiance lies ) as there is no constitutional court (similar to US Supreme Court) to interpret the PC as well as no referendum took place, so most of the negotiations should be political agreements.
5/ If one argue legal side the two years extension (so far there are none), then they need to look no further than those below
two UNAMBIGUOUS articles on the PC, surprisingly no one is around to dispute!
6/
Article 91.
Term of Office of the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia
The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia shall hold office for a term of four (4) years, starting from the day he takes the oath of the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia,
7/
Article 67
Dissolution of the House of the People of the Fed Parliament
The House of the People of the Fed Parl cannot be dissolved before the end of its four-year term unless the House has been unable to approve the Council of Ministers & the program of the gov under Art 100
8/ On Monday we will know more where both GM & HS stand for the extension of the Parliament .
As rumours circulating they will oppose the extension, presumably, pressure from their constituencies (clans)!
2/4 (A) Accept Mandate Extension for the parliamentary, at least 2 years.
(B) The country will go 1P1V, means indefinitely (something he failed to do for the last 4 years). @KFosterFCDO
3/4 Farmajo will get more time fo breath and further abuses his power until he brings oppositions its knees and further intimidating International Partners in the name of chauvinist nationalism.
