If we didn't have the global ecosystem catastrophe hanging over us, I would be entirely pleased with Joe Biden to an extent I never have with another President in my almost 74 years living under them.
I even like the things I disagree with, because he does them honorably.
2. I didn't stumble onto my current view of the utter unreality of all plans to have a high speed culture within a survivable ecosystem until about 2018 - 2019. Only a little over two years ago.
That me would be 100% happy with Joe and Kamala.
And he's still alive, part of now me
3. It is not a wisecrack when I say Joe and Kamala inherited the biggest mess in world history. I mean that phrase literally.
The US government is the biggest organization on Earth. The Murdoch Anarchists incl TFG and McConnell broke it more completely than can be described.
4. It is no accident when I refer to them as anarchists, although fascist is another usable term. What they have done, systematically, starting in 1980 with Reagan, is totally destroy the Constitutional republican form of representative government and turn it into an oligarchy.
5. A lot of those murderous old Fascist revolutionaries running around in armed mobs are the intellectual remnants of people who once believed in peace, love, and lots of personal freedom. They were systematically led, using planned information warfare, into the deadly mob today.
6. For better or for worse, nations as we understand them today occupy space and time among other nations, and there are complicated contests for power and control spinning amongst all else that humans do.
The Murdoch Anarchists attacked that, too, filling the discourse with lies
7. I'm not saying that in some Lost Golden Age humans were better.
8. I am, however, saying that the high speed, high energy, multi-sensory, all pervasive blast of mediated information and disinformation which fills the space where newspapers and books used to live is fundamentally different than anything else humanity has ever experienced.
9. And that the few people who, by its very nature, must own almost all of that information mediating technology, have manipulated it for their good to the harm of almost all others.
But that's a separate issue.
10. Biden and Harris came to take the reins of this runaway team of robot horses running at the speed of the World Wide Web.
We should have given some thought, perhaps, to enthusiastically leaping into a worldwide web, but that's hindsight. We're here now. Ask the flies.
11. Their focus has been laser-direct. They pick a problem and bear down on it, find its core flaw, work on that, hire some quietly competent brilliant people, tell them what to accomplish, and turn them loose, go after another problem. In a miserably entangled world, progress.
12. If it turns out to be that humankind can continue our high speed interlocking global society and economy indefinitely, then Joe Biden is the best President of my lifetime, hands down. Already. I mean that.
I liked Obama, but he dithered. He was too timid to act.
Joe got guts.
13. If Joe had the Senate of Obama's first two years he'd be making what we see now look like a pale shadow. Obama blew the whole two years passing Romneycare.
Biden would have welded McConnell in a barrel and Done Shit.
14. About two and a half years ago I realized that the whole, electric cars, solar panels, wind turbines, high speed high energy climate-friendly future was in violation of several laws of thermodynamics and geophysics and could not be made to happen.
This "slow down, donkeys"...
15. My current, admittedly extreme, position on climate adaptation / amelioration / restoration, has all evolved since 2018. I have a collection of 83 pre-2019 essays online, and within them you will see me advocate for what a Green New Deal might be. nopackagedeals.com/table-of-conte…
16. It saddens me that the handful of voices who see the totality of ecosystem threats and refuse to play the emissions only, carbon only, temperature only game, which cannot be scientifically justified, those voices are excluded. Biden's not hearing them. Kerry's not either.
17. Voices like Extinction Rebellion aren't useful, because they know what they're against but they refuse to follow themselves to the truth of what they're for.
Instead of, "Quit killing everything" they need to be saying, "Park all the cars, trucks, and airplanes." The killers.
18. Degrowth is one term for what would (could) actually work, and there are people with the requisite advanced degrees to be listened to in developed societies who advocate for it, but the people who own the media don't like it, so - silence. degrowth.info/en/what-is-deg…
19. @jasonhickel is a Degrowth advocate.
I follow him.
Twitter hasn't shown me one of his tweets this year.
Surely just a coincidence.
Don't you think?
20. None of them offer a step-by-step plan for getting from here to there like I do, but I don't have a college degree so by definition I'm not worth a President's eyes or ears.
But seriously - here we have the best President of my lifetime, and I want to give him the respect due
21. Except the world he's President in doesn't exist. The world where we can do a rerun of the massive bulldoze-pave-and-burn infrastructure program of the late 50s through late 70s is gone. Here's a photo of that one:
22. According to the allegedly fact-based information ecosystem within which Joe Biden's Presidency operates, the "all the truth that's fit to make money with" model, he's great.
And the last guy, in that same model, was 🗣️ HORRIBLE.
23. And I don't really know what to do. Myself. Personally.
Do I pretend that we can run this scam forever?
I can't believe that.
Nobody has ever even tried to show me a legitimate science-based image of how that works. Without the science fiction part, it's no science at all.
24. Anyway - I'm torn. But I'm rooting for him. I'd rather spend the remaining years in Joe Biden's America than in Mitch McConnell's.
So that's it. Later.
