.@dandrezner piece especially appreciated because of how arrogantly wrong some economists were about the pandemic, let alone the misogynistic academic environment they work in washingtonpost.com/outlook/2021/0…
The incentive for reporters to push bullshit, get a response and have a story out of it seems to drive the indignant pushback to criticism, and to politicians ignoring the BS
"I'm doing my job, you armchair critics"
"how long can X go in not responding, and if they don't •that's• the story"
This is speculation on my part but I strongly suspect Trump had respiratory distress and viral pneumonia as @VinGuptaMD suggested today (I am also a pediatric pulmonologist and agree).
This is based on respiratory distress, withholding of his CT scan as well as the meds chosen
That’s important because CDC suggests “persons with more severe to critical illness or severe immunocompromise likely remain infectious no longer than 20 days after symptom onset” which means restricting Trump appearances
I think Trump and the WH are lying about this because he refuses restrictions and wants to campaign.
But it’s also a way to try and avoid further scrutiny to push hearings next week.
That’s why Graham won’t be tested. McConnell won’t sanction testing etc
