How you can engage with the Qur'an this Ramadan if you can't read or understand Arabic - a short thread 🧵
1. Find a good translation that works for you
Many websites allow you to choose between different Qur'an translations or include the different translations side-by-side. Some good examples include:
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: “...the one who recites [the Qu'ran] with difficulty, stammering or stumbling through its verses will have twice the reward.”
4. Get a Kids Qur'an
When we seek a simpler breakdown, we can often find this in children’s resources as they are intended to ensure communication is clear. They often centre the stories of the Prophets and Sahabah which will help you connect more with the Qur'an.
5. Use a Qur'an pen reader
When you point a Qu'ran pen onto the text, the pen reads it out for you so this is an excellent tool if you want to learn the letters in a verse of the Qur'an and how to pronounce them or you are trying to memorise a whole surah.
6. Listen to lectures with tafseer (explanation of the Quran) explaining linguistic nuances
The words of Allah are truly miraculous and understanding the subtleties will make you see the Qur'an in a completely different light and help strengthen your connection with it.
7. Live the Quran
The best thing you can do with what you learn from the Qur'an is to live it. Whether you know one line or more, when you come across knowledge from the Qur'an, work towards implementing it and applying it to your life.
May Allah allow us to be people of the Qur'an, May He allow us to learn, teach and live the Qur'an. Ameen.
