A very stark opinion from a friend in medicine this week who's been reviewing my medical notes and believes that as a child I might not just have had "balance issues" which you've already seen me talk about previously...

...clinicians selectively disregarded certain information over the last decade and a half, they chose to deal with my symptoms like they would a normal person. The problem is that the medications they've been giving me are Central Nervous System depressants...

...in otherwords, the reason I have likely been getting worse for a decade and a half is that the natural defence to my own illness I had built up, has been stripped from me a piece at a time.

Long story short where a person is in pain, suppressing the central nervous system is how you reduce that pain. But with something like dyspraxia, you're supposed to stimulate the central nervous system to increase the brain's ability to process information.

Where did all this start. Well in 2006 I had my appendix removed. It was apparently healthy but they removed it anyway based on physical examination of the right iliac fossa pain (lower abdominal pain)...

...however, when they removed it, despite it being that it was healthy, they never further investigated it. Now! One of the complications of an open appendectomy is the entrapment of nerves that run through or near to the illiac fossa.

Those nerves control pain in the thighs. Which is exactly the place where nerve pain is in my legs. Now I am not saying it was the surgery, however, pain in the iliac fossa which was never investigated after the appendix were removed and found to be healthy...

(which for the records is a MISDIAGNOSIS) could have just as easily been a precursor to issues with those nerves.

One of the issues with dyspraxics is sensory overload - and it makes sense - I have a habit of wearing sunglasses in moderate light, of putting on headphones to drown out distracting noises and I am also highly sensitive to heat.

These are just things that were always there. Now you add in nerve pain to someone whose sensory input is overloaded and there's your collapses. Likely caused by overloaded senses from the pain.

Now you start adding in CNS depressants which not only slow down the brains ability to process sensory input and you have a storm. More and more added every time the patient gets a little worse.

The problem is that with CNS depressants comes an increase in GABA - now the body and the brains chemistry is all out of whack.....and all because people couldn't be bothered to read my medical notes.

If this is right (and I am not asserting it to be the case until confirmed) then I don't have M.E (the symptoms of which are very similar to the other condition and if exasperated definitely look like M.E) but unfortunately, I will have been effectively poisoned for 15 years...

...and before anyone goes off on one about using that word, the definition of poison is a substance that is capable of causing the illness or death of a living organism when introduced or absorbed.

So I guess it's off for investigation I go then. Bloody mess!
