The #europeansuperleague:

1. Most people will always prefer the status quo because they hate change.
2. Many who have accused others of being xenophobic recently, seem to have the most xenophobic views on this issue.
3. Did those creating The Premier League, care about the football League?
4. Did Sky care about fans when they forced them to pay huge subscription costs to watch Premier League games?
5. Did Sky care about the BBC or ITV when it took over?
6. Did the Premier League or Sky care about the fans when they tried to charge them £14.99 per game during the pandemic?
7. Did the pundits - ‘disgusted’ by the ESL - benefit as players hugely from The Premier League’s breakaway from the Football League in 1992?
8. Do the same pundits now benefit from the the huge profits their employers make as result of their own creative destruction and desire to make huge profits?
9. Are many of those multi-millionaire pundits ramming anti-capitalist rhetoric down our throats at every opportunity?
10. During their playing careers, if the same pundits were offered double salaries with their clubs to play in the ESL, would they have turned it down out of principle?
11. Did those same pundits ever turn down a large contract - as either players or pundits - because it didn’t sit well with their socialist beliefs?
12. Some pundits are ‘disgusted’ by the lack of ‘fair competition’ with the ESL proposals. Have those pundits ever lobbied for wage caps for English football clubs (including in the Premier League) to ensure no club can spend more than another?
13. If Sky were invited to be the exclusive ESL broadcaster, would they have turned it down?
14. Would everyone working for Sky be outraged at the idea of the ESL if Sky were the exclusive broadcaster?
15. When the Football League was founded in 1888 were there promotions and relegations?
16. Do fans want local multi-millionaires in charge of their clubs or multi-billionaire owners from overseas?
17. Do fans care that those multi-billionaire owners from overseas do not have any affiliation to their town, city or country?
18. Do fans care about the fans of other clubs when their new owners spend hundreds of millions on infrastructure, training facilities, stadiums and players?
19. Do fans accept that these owners might be tempted by a more glamorous and financially beneficial league run by a different organisation?
20. Is it possible, in the future, that if more teams signed up to the ESL, there could be relegations and promotions, just like when the football league evolved?
21. FYI, my preference in this scenario would also be the status quo, I love the Premier League. Im also open minded and in favour of a free market. If ‘the fans’ don’t like it, it will tank. If they do, it will evolve.
22. Take with a pinch of salt the opinions of pundits and broadcasters who’s mere existence is under threat if the ESL goes ahead.
23. They’re outraged because they’re under threat and they’re trying - as anyone would - to protect their winning position.
