The 6th Carbon Budget will take the UK more than three-quarters of the way to reaching net zero by 2050

... while remaining consistent with the Paris Agreement temperature goal to limit global warming to well below 2°C - and pursue efforts towards 1.5°C

And for the first time, this Carbon Budget will incorporate the UK’s share of international aviation and shipping emissions

This is an important part of the Government’s decarbonisation efforts that will allow for these emissions to be accounted for consistently

We have already laid the groundwork to end the UK’s contribution to climate change by 2050

In the past few months, we've published:

✅ A 10 Point Plan, mobilising £12bn
✅ Industrial Decarbonisation Strategy
✅ Energy White Paper
✅ North Sea Transition Deal

But we will go even further, including publishing:

✅ Heating and Buildings Strategy
✅ Transport Decarbonisation Plan
✅ Net Zero Strategy ahead of @COP26
