BREAKING: Governor Roy Cooper says he anticipates lifting social distancing and mass gathering restrictions by June 1
Governor Cooper says the goal is for 2/3 of adults to be vaccinated
An Executive Order is coming next week regarding the restrictions in May
Dr Mandy Cohen says if 2/3rds of North Carolinians get shots, North Carolina will have a normal summer with public gatherings, fireworks, parades and no masks. Currently about 50% of eligible North Carolinians have gotten at least one dose
The mask mandate will be in place through May but it sounds like there may be a change coming. After June 1, mask mandate may be lifted unless in indoors. Once 2/3rds of North Carolinians get vaccinated, the mask mandate goes away completely
It’s simple. Get a shot and the masks go away. ~50% of North Carolinians have at least 1 dose. Just need to get to ~67%. The shots are available. This could end soon if people act with some urgency.
Help get us to 67%. Walk-in shots are available today at:
Sheraton Airport Hotel via @StarMedCare
Bojangles Coliseum
Randolph Medical Pharmacy
Brewers at 4001 Yancey
No Mecklenburg County long term care residents have died of COVID-19 since February #MeckBOCC
Charlotte hospitals are not seeing increases in patients in the ICU due to COVID
Keep in mind when the county says only ~34% have received at least one shot, that is out of the total Meck County population, not the eligible population. People under 16 are not eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine right now
Just announced: The Mecklenburg County Health Department is closing Bojangles Coliseum for vaccine appointments on May 22 #MeckBOCC
The county is launching a partnership with Action NC for grassroots canvassing about vaccine availability and information #MeckBOCC
Health Director Gibbie Harris says the county is seeing some hesitancy but mainly a lack of urgency in getting a COVID-19 shot. The county is looking at ways to make it as easy as possible to get a vaccine #MeckBOCC
Thread: I spoke to Gibbie Harris today about Mecklenburg County's vaccination rate. Mecklenburg County is lagging behind several neighboring counties right now.
Yet vaccine demand is still incredibly high in Mecklenburg County. As you can tell from my tweets, open appointments in Charlotte go within minutes, not hours. Like last week when 650 shots in less than 5 minutes.
You do not have to be a Davidson County resident. If you are in Groups 4b or 5 and can get to Davidson Co tomorrow, you can get a vaccine appointment if you sign up here: signupgenius.com/go/10c0c4daca7…
To my knowledge- This is the closest county to Charlotte vaccinating everyone
