Presser starting with Cyber Ninjas CEO Doug Logan. @BennettArizona says he’ll intervene if anyone tries to talk about Logan’s tweets. “We’re not here to audit Doug’s opinions.”
Teams of three will sit at these tables, with a camera recording (but not streaming) every table. Logan says this will result in total accountability.
Counters are only looking at the presidential race and the Senate race - aka the ones @JoeBiden and @SenMarkKelly won. They’ll see scanned ballots and paper copies.
No guarantee that there are enough Dem or independent volunteers to have one at each table. The lawsuit filed by @azdemparty today alleges 70 percent of volunteers are registered Republicans.
Logan says he doesn’t know who is paying for the audit beyond the $150,000 the Senate agreed to pay. He says he would be operating at a loss without additional funds, but won’t share the actual cost.
Doug Logan is now just blinking in response to questions about committing to tell the public about every source of funding.
.@BennettArizona has now committed on tape to sharing all his communications with the audit team under state public records laws. The use of Gmail and proton mail had many concerned they were trying to subvert public record laws.
Re: visiting neighborhoods: Logan says it’s a “statistical analysis based on voting histories.” It sounds like they won’t share that analysis until after the audit is complete.
.@BennettArizona says he’ll do a daily press briefing. Otherwise, it sounds like he’s trying to stick with making press work shifts as volunteer observers for the audit.
.@jjcooper asks how the press can be observers without participating in the audit.

Bennett: “You can’t.”
There will not be signature validation, but the Senate reserves the right to subpoena them, Bennett says.
He confirms that as of a week ago 70 percent of volunteers were Republican, and blames Democrats for not wanting to participate
That 70 percent figure is for the observers, not the volunteer counters. We don’t know that partisan breakdown
Logan said he definitely won’t release the names of the people who count these ballots.

Senate is now voting on #SB1485, the PEVL-pruning bill. In a twist, Republican @AZKellyT is voting "no" — I'm not sure yet whether that's a mistake or intentional and Dems are also huddling.
Sponsor @MichelleUgenti: "Obviously this bill isn't going to pass because the senator from District 15 in a show of spite and a show of rage has decided to vote against it. It's disappointing that someone who purports to care about election integrity would do this."
@MichelleUgenti Ugenti-Rita says Townsend is upset that her own election bills didn't get a hearing in the government committee that Ugenti-Rita chairs.

@AZKellyT has called two points of order now about Ugenti-Rita not being allowed to impugn her.

Senate is now back in session and starting with a final vote on #SB1457, which will ban abortions sought solely because of a genetic abnormality. Bill also includes a personhood clause, stating that fetuses should be considered full humans with all associated rights.
Sen. @LelaAlstonAz, starting debate, says bans on abortions for specific reasons (race, sex, genetics) have always been about chipping away at abortion rights.
Sen. @RosannaGabaldon: "This bill is an attempt by anti-abortion groups to co-opt the mantle of disability rights." It's telling that disability rights groups don't support #SB1457.

The House is a Russian nesting doll of points of order right now.
And @AthenaSalman just called a point of order *on herself* to get an answer about what they're allowed to discuss after Rs objected to Dems talking about why they think #SB1485 is a bad bill during a debate about whether the COW report should be amended to say the bill failed
Salman did not get that answer, and she was the last person to speak on that motion. #SB1485 is now going to a third reading, or the last vote it will get in the House unless senators object to amendments.
