So NCOC pretty much doing what it has done till now. Honestly, this is criminal. The PM refuses to even entertain the idea of shutting down to survive. And if you come @ me with the poors must live, please be the first one to let go of your oxygen tank for them too then.

For eg, asking office to close down at 2pm: i mean, what exactly is the point? Does the virus only come out after 2pm? Will ppl miraculously be saved if they go to work from 8 till 2?

The PM says he's asked the army to 'enforce' SOPs. I'd really like to see Big Business (which the PM wants to protect every time) being raided. Seriously. Would love to see that.

Also: misrepresenting last year's success. Last year, there was a lockdown. THAT is what made ppl sit at home and wear masks when out. Also, there was at least some messaging by the govt. [That pretty much ended soon; since then very little effort towards proper corona campaigns]

So.... In a nutshell: yes, lockdowns should be the last resort. But also yes, the govt is just not enforcing any SOPs. I just don't see how this situation will improve (while constantly praying it does because India is a nightmare we cant afford to become)

I also can't believe that Asad Umar dwelt for so long on how to shop for Eid. WHAT is wrong with these people?

As per Mr Umar, offices will be closed by 2pm so that ppl can also find time to shop, especially for Eid.

Apologies in advance for this very long thread. But here goes: Anyone criticising the way the govt has handled or is handling the corona crisis is not looking to deprive poor people of their livelihood.>>

Let's see what's been happening: we don't have enough vaccines; but more than that we have not had a proper vaccine campaign. This is just fact. If we were to launch a proper vaccination campaign, we would also need the corresponding amount of vaccine shots>>

Starting last march, the govt has been dithering on proper messaging. And, while private companies (the media) and ordinary citizens can and MUST play their part, this is much more on the state: go all-out on the messaging front.>>

UNBELEIVABLE: in the middle of his little IT and special zones speech at the launch of whatever he's launching, the PM says he will NOT go to Quetta till they bury their dead. Says he cant 'understand this demand'. Says if they bury today, he'll go today.

The PM also said that no country's PM can be 'blackmailed' like this. [Yes, he used the word blackmail. I'm very interested to see how this is spun].

He added that India is fanning 'Shia-Sunni fasaadaat'. That the govt has agreed to all the 'demands of the Hazaras'.

Says when he went to the UK he realised they were trying to make 'us' into replicas of themselves. IK says his strength is that he always analysed his life at every step.

So he realised then -- when he was in England [also adds that not many have seen England the way he has] -- that 'we' have a concept of Allah and Akhirat and realised that in the West there was no such concept and Marxism was the leading concept there at the time.
