B.1.617 is now the dominant variant in India.

And we know precious little about it so far in terms of transmissiblity or immune evasion.
And we also know from @Rukmini (see thread) that the govt's data points on "post-vaccination breakthrough infections" was misleading.

Another important thread with some much-needed (though preliminary) good news on reduced fatalities among vaccinated populations in Mumbai (i.e. 60+)

The usual caveats apply: incomplete/inadequate data.

More good news: vaccine escape unlikely with B.1.617 variant.

question: this is for Covishield (Oxford-Astrazeneca). What about Covaxxin, which accounts for >10 per cent (and perhaps growing) of vaccines administered currently in India?
