Confirming my reporting: Here is the House Ethics Committee's notice to House Majority Whip Rep. Clyburn that he has been fined $5000 for going around a metal detector earlier this week.

He told Manu he plans to appeal.

Here is the backstory: politico.com/news/2021/04/2…
Per the Capitol Police referral: “Representative Clyburn deliberately avoided being screened by refusing to submit to screening at the West lobby screening point. Congressman Clyburn went to the restroom, came out and continued past the officers… and into the House Chamber.”
His office provided me w/ this stmt on Wednesday:

“Congressman Clyburn respects the rules of the chamber and he disputes the characterization of this incident,” a spokesperson for Clyburn said in a statement, referring to the police referral.

@RepDianaDeGette and @RepCicilline touching on this and is impt to highlight:

Those who work in the Capitol who are Black & Jewish have also had to process the symbols of racism, bigotry and discrimination amid and after the attack.
Think: Holocaust denier wearing a Camp Auschwitz shirt

Confederate flags

Rioters who repeatedly attacked a black police officer with racial slurs

AP: How a leading anti-Trump group, the Lincoln Project, ignored a crisis in its ranks

"Despite the early warning, the group took no action against Weaver and pressed forward with its high-profile work."

apnews.com/article/donald…
This story is V interesting.

"For the collection of GOP consultants and former officials, being anti-Trump was becoming very good for business. Of the $90 million Lincoln Project has raised, more than $50 million has gone to firms controlled by the group’s leaders."
Says: There is no evidence "the Lincoln Project buried the allegations against Weaver for business reasons. But taken together, the harassment allegations and new revelations about spending practices raise significant questions about the management" of this big anti-Trump group

A few more thoughts on Jan 6.

It’s been a month since the evacuation from the Capitol, and I would be lying if I said it isn’t still impacting me.

It's the realization of how much worse it could've been that seems to stick.
When I catch a moment of quiet, the nightmares sometimes come. And even in the hustle bustle of the day, I think a lot about how I responded in that moment of crisis.

It is funny how your mind can both be in denial and accepting of reality.
‘I can’t get hurt, I’m a reporter. This isn’t about me.’ Then why is my body so clearly aware it’s in danger as tear gas was deployed and then there was the sound of a gun shot fired off nearby. Why did I keep my backpack w/ me in case I needed a physical barrier?
