1./ Do Scotland's self-appointed LGBTQ+ warriors actually give a damn about homophobia? They bang on about @ALLIANCELGB but spend next to no time speaking out about a real issue closer to home: a billionaire homophobe's cult on a Scottish island. 👇mumbaimirror.indiatimes.com/news/india/bab…
2./ In 2009 a couple who made millions from care homes in Scotland "donated" the island of Little Cumbrae off the Ayrshire coast to Baba Ramdev, an Indian yogi who claims to cure homosexuality. Yes ACTUAL conversion therapy, and not the made up stuff.👇rediff.com/news/slide-sho…
3./ According to Ramdev, a big supporter of the equally awful Narendra Modi, homosexuality is an addiction. He claims to cure it with intense yoga, and ayurvedic medicine (ie quack potions) ...all set in a residential conversion camp, sorry ashram. 👇deccanchronicle.com/131211/news-cu…
4./ Shortly after he made his incendiary remarks he was defended by Goa's Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Ramesh Tawadkar who looked forward to camps being set up by the BJP that would allow Ramdev to "cure same-sex attraction".👇 zeenews.india.com/news/goa/baba-…
5./ We know lavishly funded LGBTQ+ organisations like @StonewallScot don't care about boring old gay rights anymore. But Ramdev also uses the word "transgender" as an insult so you'd think that might pique their trans-obsessed interest. Apparently not.👇
6./ Ramdev said he was happy to teach ordinary Pakistanis yoga but not a "hijira" like Imran Khan (hijiras being the traditional "trans" icons of India). Under the previous Indian govt the island's donation was part of a wide-ranging corruption enquiry.
7./ In response, Ramdev swung his millions of followers behind Modi, who has been helping the yogi ever since. In 2015 he gave Ramdev India's highest honour, a Padma Bhushan. @indiatimes offered 12 reasons why that was a terrible idea.👇indiatimes.com/news/india/12-…
8./ They include him being caught on camera discussing bribery against BJP candidates, his claims to cure AIDS and cancer and ...the err..failure to account for his wealth including a certain Scottish island. 👇
9./ Given @MhairiBlack, that bloke Paisley and St John of Nicolson bleat so much about conversion therapy they'd be making a fuss about a guru that claims homosexuality is "an American disease" which he can cure. I can find no evidence they've said a word.
10./ Maybe they only complain if the "converter" is a white-skinned Christian? You'd think they'd care anyway about Ramdev's presence given his entirely fake cures for COVID have been found on sale in the UK; despite the MHRA warning they're illegal.👇indiatoday.in/coronavirus-ou…
11./ I don't myself agree with banning people. It would be more useful to protest and then debate with the guru's followers, exposing his absurd views. But what did the LGBTQ+ peeps do last time Ramdev had a big event in Glasgow? Precisely nothing.👇
12./ It's yet more proof they've now become a lazy adjunct of the SNP state; a well-funded back-patting elite that focus their energy on critics who challenge their ideas but don't give a monkeys about actual homophobes or transphobes who are allowed to operate in plain sight.
13./ It's almost as if there's a pressing need for organisations that put LGB people first and aren't owned by the Scottish state. If you want to know more about the weird yogi's outsize impact on the chaos now unfolding in India...here's a thread. 👇
14./ For those wondering how hard it is to find out about Little Cumbrae, the island is 90 mins door to door from the Paisley constituency of @MhairiBlack, 100 from the Bearsden pad of Mr Nicolson and 2 hours 20 from the HQs in Edinburgh of most LGBTQ+ groups. A world away?

1./ A thread on why science denial really matters. India is a tragic lesson in how denying facts will always prove deadly; in the end. Here's how Modi's life-long love affair with irrational extremism is at the root of the country's spiralling death toll.👇dw.com/en/why-are-cov…
2./ Modi's image in the West as a modernising leader has always seemed bizarre given the allegations of his involvement in the murder of Muslims during inter-communal riots. As BJP governor of Gujarat state he did nothing to halt the violence.👇nytimes.com/2012/02/16/wor…
3./ But Modi's party has an even darker legacy; emerging out of the paramilitary RSS founded in the 1920s in imitation of Mussolini's fascists. The party's openly racist ideology, Hindutva, has changed little since then. Gandhi was shot by an RSS member.👇theguardian.com/world/2020/feb…
1./ Your daily reminder the gender identity movement is full of fantasists and doesn't give a fig about the truth. @naomirwolf has been talking cobblers for years. Every time you think she can't get more bonkers she promptly does. Her latest fruitcakery tho takes some beating.👇
2./ In between other anti-vaxx baloney she now claims vaccination may trigger unusual bleeding in women nearby. It's lunacy. Yet when she slammed @ALLIANCELGB and UK feminists she was lauded by Pink News, Nicolson, Blunt and the rest of the gender Adams Family as an authority. 👇
3./ Here's Tatchell, celebrating Naomi's intervention. Hilariously, he cites the claims of Professor Wolf of the University of Totally Made-Up BS that the defence of single sex spaces is FACTUALLY baseless. As if Naomi has more than a passing acquaintance with...the FACTUAL.👇
1./ I see @MrJohnNicolson is the comedy gift that never stops giving. As the wee hours approached last night he scrolled through my timeline, as he often does, to pick on anyone who agreed with one of my threads including a psychiatrist; whom he proceeded to troll. 👇
2./ Do "you currently work for the NHS or are licensed to practise?", old pompous chops enquires, with the hint of a threat that comes from him being an MP. Turns out Mr Curtis just happens to be Honorary Professor at the Centre for Psychiatry at Queen Mary University. Whoops.😂
3./ I suppose it's the fact checking we've come to expect from ol' Johnioh. Remember when he spread a big fat conspiracy theory about a certain gay group somehow organising a global attempt to err...swing the SNP's Executive elections?🙄👇
1./ A thread about conversion therapy, gender identity and the elephant in the room : mental health. It's remarkable how in the debate on 'gender identity' there's such a stubborn refusal to consider the power and fragility of the human mind. Here's why that's dangerous.
2./ If you haven't read 'Sleeping Beauties' I can reccomend this extraordinary new book that explores how stress and cultural influence can trigger medical conditions which, on the surface, seem baffling; like 169 girls in Sweden falling into 'comas'.👇theguardian.com/books/2021/apr…
3./ Except coma isn't the right word. The girls were all from refugee families, and almost all from the ex-USSR or Iraq. Many were Yazidi. Some of the families had been through hell. For 2 decades girls fell asleep and didn't wake for months or years.👇bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-…
1./ If you want a brilliant introduction to the whole 'gender identity' debate or just wonder how trans rights became such a battlefield, do yourself a favour and listen to @holyroodmandy's interview with ex leader of Scottish Labour, @JohannLamont 👇 anchor.fm/holyrood/episo…
2./ Like so many on the Left Johann started by wanting to help a vulnerable group of people, transsexuals, but slowly realised activists who claimed to speak for them had a more ambitious and stranger agenda: to redefine words that have important meanings: like sex and woman.
3./ The original category of transsexual was expanded to become a vast, ill-defined umbrella and then the denial of basic science began. Every one alive today is the result of sexual reproduction by a male and a female but somehow this binary sex reality was to be foresworn.
1./ Jameela's puberty blocker meltdown. Today's Naomi Wolf award for BS goes to @jameelajamil for this legend where she claims blockers were given to lots of girls at her school in the 90s. It's hard to know where to begin with this level of inaccuracy. But here's a start.👇
2./ The first science paper on the subject of a trial giving GnRH agonists (or puberty blockers) to adolescents was published in 1998 and was the subject of a 1996 C4 documentary. This highly experimental trial happened in Holland and NOT Jameela's school. Strangely enough.👇
3./ It was only in 2011 that the leading Gender Identity Clinic in the UK began its own experimental trials. They were criticised by the usual suspects ( hello Mermaids) for being too "cautious". They wanted to find out how "reversible" were the effects. 👇tavistockandportman.nhs.uk/about-us/news/…
