Consumer Reports no longer takes ad money, so who pays them to run their business?
Consumer Reports is organized as a “non-profit”
Of its six largest “philanthropic partners”,
#1 Ford
#3 GM
#6 Big Oil
A thread 1/x 👇🏼
#1 Ford Foundation. This is funded by the family and heirs of the Henry Ford fortune and business.
Ford is motivated to slow down Tesla’s business and make life more difficult for them.
#3 Alfred P Sloan Foundation. Alfred Sloan was CEO of General Motors (GM) for 23 years.
3/x👇🏼
#6 “philanthropic partner” is the Energy Foundation.
In 2014, the US Senate found that the EF is a politically and economically motivated “pass through”attempting to shape their version of “clean energy.”
So technically #6 may not be big oil, but is a billionaire wanting to shape energy markets... but do they want to cling onto fossil fuels (natural gas) or hydrogen (very inefficient compared to solar) and slow down Tesla, solar, & battery revolution?
