It would be useful to understand the context of the breakthrough events (so we’re they at a time of high or low prevalence in their locality)
In India right now prevalence is SO high and vaccine roll out so slow that it would not be surprising if breakthrough events were higher
Given the paucity of access to good hospital care (huge demand from numbers, serious shortage of oxygen and drugs) it also would not be surprising if the breakthrough death rate is markedly higher too.
Just a flag that breakthroughs have to be understood in context of prevalence and healthcare robustness, and may not be a result of eg loss of comparable vaccine efficacy
Amazing to think that 16 months ago Covid-19 had not even been sequenced and 5 months ago no vaccine had been approved for use.
What amazing progress and deep gratitude to all the scientists involved in their development.

‘It’s a betrayal’: Cornish fishing vote turns against Tories over Brexit deal | Local elections | The Guardian

Bosustow, 48, a Brexit supporter, will not be supporting the Tories on 6 May. “We are not going to forget when it comes to voting time,” he says. “I don’t feel like they [the Conservatives] deserve my vote at the moment.”
“Further down the quay, Brackan Pearce, 28, is restocking his trawler. He travelled up the Thames as part of a flotilla of fishing boats demanding control of British waters during the referendum campaign in 2016.”

Michigan’s Covid Wards Are Filling Up With Younger Patients - The New York Times
They are admitting about twice as many patients in their 30s and 40s than they did during the Autumn peak. nytimes.com/2021/04/25/us/…
At Beaumont Hospital in one of America’s worst coronavirus hot spots, entire units are still filled with Covid patients. People weak with the virus still struggle to sit up in bed
The phone still rings with pleas to transfer patients on the verge of death to higher-tech units
But unlike previous surges, it now is younger & middle-aged adults — not their parents & grandparents — who are taking up many of Michigan’s hospital beds. A 37-yr-old woman on a ventilator after giving birth. A 41-yr-old father. A 55-yr-old autoworker who has been sick for weeks

“ I don’t understand pharma’s stance on this. Everyone needs to make money, sure. But this is a very serious situation and there’s no reason to be this harsh,” he added.
Behind the scenes, though, Greensill Capital had already embarked on a whistle-stop tour of the UK’s NHS trusts in an attempt to parlay the scheme, called Earnd, into paying business, including the supply chain finance schemes that were the group’s signature product.
