Twitter has removed several tweets about Covid-19 at the request of the Indian government, including some that were critical of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's handling of a brutal second wave of the #COVID19 pandemic.
cnn.com/2021/04/26/tec…
2) “In a statement Sunday, India's Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology said it had asked Twitter (TWTR), Facebook (FB) and others to remove around 100 posts "in view of the misuse of social media platforms by certain users to spread fake or misleading information."
3) “It accused those users of creating "panic" about the latest Covid-19 wave by "using unrelated, old and out of the context images or visuals, communally sensitive posts and misinformation about Covid-19 protocols."

➡️Misinfo is easy BS to accuse.
4) Meanwhile... Indian government... “No oxygen shortage”!

...and if you try to say so, we will seize your property, says a well known Modi loyalist. 🔥
5) Twitter should not comply with such partisan India 🇮🇳 politics nonsense to silence #COVID19 critics.

2) “As supplies run dangerously low and hospitals forced to turn away sick, scientists are trying to determine what role variants might be playing. They are working with precious little data. India, like many other countries, has not built up a robust system to track viruses.”
3) “India’s worries have focused on a homegrown variant called B.1.617. The public, the popular press and many doctors have concluded that it is responsible for the severity of the second wave. “

MASK GUIDANCE UPDATE—Americans who are fully vaccinated against the coronavirus no longer need to wear masks outdoors if they’re walking, running, hiking or biking alone, with members of their household, or if attending small outdoor gatherings, CDC says.
nytimes.com/2021/04/27/hea…
2) CDC stopped short of telling those people that they could shed their masks altogether in outdoor settings — citing the worrying risk that remains for transmitting the coronavirus, unknown vaccination levels among people in crowds and still high-caseloads in some regions
3) But the C.D.C. is maintaining advice on other safety measures, saying vaccinated adults should continue wearing masks and staying six feet apart in large public spaces, like outdoor performance or sports events, indoor shopping malls and movie theaters. Image
