HS Ajay Bhalla tell Delhi govt that while there is no shortage of oxygen supply and Delhi was allocated 480 MT after consultation with its officers, it has received less supply than its actual allocation largely due to logistical issues not at all addressed by the state govt
Efforts of Delhi govt not up to the mark, said Bhalla. Adds that Delhi govt directed INOX to supply 98 MT to 17 hospitals while it was supplying 105 MT to 45 hospitals for long time. Also, alternative arrangements for the remaining 28 hospitals not properly tied up by Delhi govt
HS: As a result some of these hospitals have been complaining about severe shortage of medical oxygen and one hospital mentioned that some persons died because of it. This could have been avoided had proper consultations with stakeholders been done well in time by Delhi govt
HS: Logistics issues have to be properly addressed as the demand for tankers for transportation of oxygen exceeds present availability in the country. Delhi govt has hardly been able to arrange any tankers though many crucial days have passed since allotment of oxygen by Centre
HS: A virtual meeting with all hospitals in Delhi, taking stock of their capacities and infra, guiding them to augment their storage/pressure facilities with help of experts would have avoided tragic incidents, Such things are to taken up on war footing with state govt in lead
HS to Delhi govt: Consider creation of an effective control room and such other initiatives and proactive steps to manage this unprecedented crisis in the most scientific, effective and professional manner while utilising all resources at command of Delhi govt
HS to Delhi chief secy: It is extremely important that Centre and state/UT govts work in tandem to tackle this Covid crisis and minimise human suffering. I request you to take urgent, effective, innovative and result-oriented measures like chief secretaries of other states/UTs
