speaking of woolf i just started a reread of one of my favorite books of all time, to the river by olivia laing -- a walk along the length of the ouse river that is part heartbreak memoir, part biography (of virginia and leonard), part naturalist reverie, part travelogue
it's a strange unclassifiable book, like all the best ones are, and I read it every few years around spring because it has the most evocative descriptions of being outside, and because it is a book that guides you out of winter places and into the sun
olivia has a new book out on may 4, which i am excited to read (link below)! but this one is her first, and i have recommended it to more people than i can count amazon.com/dp/B08L5NJNPY/…
