🔰Brief introduction to some of the resources in use by Unit 9900 in the IDF and the data collection methods used by Israel and analysed by this unit in order to highlight underground infrastructure and insurgent centres of gravity embedded in both rural and urban areas.
Drones- Chariot of Fire: This is a hyperspectral imaging system in use by IDF MALE drones such as the Eitan. Hyperspectral imaging is collected via sensing through narrow spectral bands and the data is used in the classification or identification of properties of objects. ImageImage
Hyperspectral imaging is used in MASINT. The identification of properties of certain materials allows for methods such as geologic mineral mapping, which can assist with the tracking of underground activity such as soil and dirt spoil from bunker and rocket launcher construction. Image
Things such as crop growth monitoring and soil classification can assist with identifying underground storage and camouflaged sites. The sensor itself follows specific points of interest set out in the mission plan by operators, allowing large amounts of data to be gathered. Image
Satellites- electro-optical reconnaissance images: Ofek-16 operates an improved Elbit Systems "Jupiter Space" camera and is the latest of 6 satellites operated by Israel that collect high-resolution imagery. Ofek-16 has a high spectral resolution of up to 50cm from 600km away. ImageImage
One of the main methods of monitoring terrain changes for things such as the establishment of weapons caches in locations such as forests or urban areas is by analysing IMINT. IDF soldiers with autism contribute to Unit 9900 due to their great visual and analytical abilities. Image
The collection of this data by Unit 9900 allows maps to be produced detailing hidden insurgent positions such as the sites in Lebanon where Hezbollah operates and subsequently assists in the creation of target banks for strikes in the event of armed conflict. ImageImage

Video geolocated at Shifa Hospital complex showing a large tunnel released by the IDF and Shin Bet. The tunnel portal descends 10 meters down, 7 meters covered by staircase and then enters an underground network that spans 55 meters to a metal door. 1/4
Geolocation: 31°31'29"N 34°26'39"E

The structure under which the tunnel was located was destroyed. 2/4

Russia has now bought Mohajer-6 UCAV’s and Shahed-136 loitering munitions from Iran. It is also now reportedly buying Fateh-110 and Zolfaghar short-range ballistic missiles. A possible next purchase may be Iran’s arsenal of land-attack cruise missiles (LACM’s).

A thread:
The first and most likely contender is the Soumar LACM which first appeared in 2015. The missile has a claimed range of 2000-2500km. This missile is ground launched and has been tested on a variety of occasions.
The Soumar missile itself is based on the nuclear-capable Russian Kh-55 air-launcher cruise missile which, ironically, Ukraine illegally provided to Iran in a secret black market deal in 2001.

The Luna-M isn’t a ballistic missile and the Fateh-110 isn’t a crummy knock-off, it’s actually very capable and generations more advanced… and actually a ballistic missile. Next we’ll be suggesting the Emad is a crummy knock-off of the V-2. It makes that little sense.
The Fateh-family of missiles in Iran is indeed originally based on Luna-M, but it’s completely different in terms of capability and not some “crummy knock-off”. For starters it’s actually guided (INS, and other variants have terminal seeker heads for anti-radiation, EO etc.).

It’s substantially more advanced than the Luna-M which is essentially an unguided artillery rocket. These are short-range ballistic missiles with a range of 300-700km and a high accuracy of 5-10m CEP. Playing down Iran’s weapon capabilities has always been a pet peeve of mine.
If you don’t have adequate air defences to shoot these down, which Ukraine doesn’t (only a few S-300V and I don’t know how many are still operational), they are going to seriously damage your infrastructure and military targets.
Buk’s might also be able to give it a go but that’s about it so far.

I’m losing my mind at this discourse that is materialising around military aid to Ukraine. “It will get us into nuclear war” “it’s the military-industrial complex wanting to prolong war”. Just engage your brains.
The conventional weapons that we are currently providing and plan on providing to Ukraine to strike Russian targets inside occupied Ukrainian territory is not going to force Moscow to launch nuclear weapons on NATO countries.
It is our duty as human begins and citizens of nations who share core values and beliefs to assist Ukraine in defending itself against an unprovoked all-out invasion and stop a regime change in the largest country in Europe. If you don’t think this is a threat you are insane.

I really don’t understand people who call for talks between Russia and Ukraine. To me demanding peace negotiations now suggests you likely have failed to understand the basics of the conflict, as well as each sides demands and ensured you kept up-to-date with developments.
Russia has set goals. It intends to fully steal Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson Oblasts and facilitate full territorial annexation. Putin literally won’t stop the war until these basic goals have been achieved. There may be operational pauses, but the war will go on.
This has become existential for his regime… he has bet it all on this. If he fails to achieve such a low bar (in comparison to his initial and possibly current underlying aim: regime change in Ukraine) he will likely be ousted or couped from office. He won’t let that happen.
