White Supremacy and racism is not a Wilmot problem, it is a problem everywhere in our Region and beyond. If we are still asking the question 'Does this exist in our community?', we are wasting time from answering the real question 'How do we eradicate it from our community?' 1/4
There is no such thing as an acceptable amount of this in our community. Rhetoric and dog whistles lead to posters and rallies which can lead to much worse. All leaders must call it out and root it out at every turn. 2/4
As a 1st time Councillor I was naively unprepared for the public criticism I would face. The unkind words, the berating, the silly accusations... I guess it's part of the gig. The extra, misogynistic nonsense my amazing female colleagues have to deal with is disgusting. 3/4
Of all the folks I've had the pleasure to meet outside of the City these past few yrs, @AngieHallman@Cheryl4Ward2@JennPfenning are among the most thoughtful, compassionate and hard working. Wilmot should feel privileged to be represented by them. Solidarity! 4/4
