Anybody that is pregnant, should be able to decide if they want to continue being pregnant. Abortion is a reproductive right that everyone should have access to. Abortion should be an option for anyone whose life is in danger of being pregnant. #njcurj

Abortion should not be taboo and no one should be ashamed of having one or getting one. This option can be a matter of life or death. In El Salvador, women are denied this right and are even imprisoned for any suspicion of getting an abortion. #njcurj

Their constitution has defined life beginning at conception and makes abortion punishable for 2 to 8 years in prison. Up to 30 to 50 years for aggravated homicide, which some women face for having a stillbirth, miscarriage, or obstetric emergency. #njcurj

The decriminalization of abortion in El Salvador is another step forward towards women gaining back their autonomy. Many of the women that are affected by this ban are marginalized women. #njcurj

They are the poor, the under education, the ones that have poor access to medical facilities/ information, the young, the ones with very little to no agency. Violence against women is high in El Salvador. #njcurj #AbortoPorViolacion

Female from age 1 all the way to age 60 are victims of all types of violence. Many aggressors never see a prison cell but their victims are more likely to do so. This patriarchal system is killing our women. #njcurj #AbortoPorViolacion

Women like, Manuela, have died in custody for “killing her baby” and denied critical life-saving treatment. Some are given unfair trials and not given proper legal consultation. Some have even been interrogated while recovering from anesthetics. #njcurj #justiciaparamanuela

I look at the case of El Salvador and see the changes in the US. This could be us. This could be our pregnant people suffering and facing injustice like in El Salvador. The state of El Salvador has failed its pregnant people. It has failed the very source of life. #njcurj

Women should not be treated as second-class citizens and should be heard. If life is so precious, why are we not listening to the lives that are already here? #njcurj

If we could put colonialism aside, we could see that much of the ideology are not our own but forced from foreign lands, foreign people. The government should work for the people and not hold its citizens back. #njcurj #colonalism

Abortion is a reproductive right that affects not just half of the population but all. The mothers that are imprisoned for a miscarriage, missing milestone moments in their living children’s life. Lives are ruined and stain by such allegations, for victims as well as families.

Women all over the world are fighting for this basic life right. Protesting in the 100s, asking for reform. Petitioning for the release of the innocent. Asking the government to give pregnant people a fighting chance. #njcurj
