It's college decision day!

Today, we celebrate all the young people who are pursuing their dreams.

But we can't forget that these dreams don't come with an equal price tag for all.
The skyrocketing cost of higher education has placed it out of reach for most students — unless they agree to take on colossal amounts of debt.
Do you have student debt?
Do you know someone who has student debt?
Did student debt impact your college decision?
Is it time to cancel student debt?
We need President Biden to take action by the end of this year.

Andrew Brown Jr. was shot by police with cameras running. But even as officials defend the shooting – and the DA fights to shield the video – North Carolina’s restrictive state body cam laws are blocking public access to the footage.

These laws must be changed.
Body cameras cannot fulfill their promise of promoting police transparency if state laws shield their videos from release.

cnn.com/2021/04/28/us/…
After killing Keith Scott in 2016, Charlotte police delayed releasing footage under the protection of this same state law.

The footage revealed the officer didn’t even turn on his body camera until he shot Scott.

Broadband internet access is a critical component of systemic equality.

Here’s why. ⤵️
Broadband is a basic utility in today’s world, but millions of people in America do not have access.

Without broadband, many opportunities in employment, education, health care, and other essential needs are out of reach.
The pandemic has only worsened existing inequities, especially in communities of color, which are less likely to have access.

BREAKING: We just sent DHS Secretary Mayorkas a letter calling for the closure of 39 ICE detention facilities around the country.

It's time for DHS to shrink this cruel, inhumane, and unnecessary system.

aclu.org/press-releases…
Fiscal year 2020 was the deadliest year in ICE detention since 2005.

We saw reports of increased solitary confinement, sexual abuse, forced sterilization, and an utter failure to protect people from COVID-19.

But the problems with ICE detention are systemic and deeply rooted.
Detention numbers are at their lowest in 20 years. There are a quarter of the people detained on average each day today than at the system’s peak in 2019.

Yet ICE is wasting over $1 million a day on guaranteed minimum bed space that isn’t being used.

BREAKING: We just filed a petition with the Supreme Court.

We're representing travelers who were subjected to warrantless and suspicionless searches of their phones, laptops, and other electronic devices at the United States border.
At airports and other ports of entry, border officers are detaining and searching the devices of a growing number of people.

Officers have demanded the passcodes to travelers' electronic devices — and even social media accounts — accessing massive amounts of private info.
People from all walks of life are being subjected to these searches, including:
☑ US citizens
☑ Permanent residents
☑ Tourists
☑ Business travelers

NEW: The House passed the NO BAN Act.

This is a much deserved victory for Muslims, Africans, African Muslims, and all other immigrants of color.
The Muslim Ban was a prime example of racism that tore families apart, targeted Black and Brown immigrants, and trampled on our most fundamental constitutional rights.

The NO BAN Act would prevent discriminatory bans like this from happening again.
This is a critical move toward immigration policies that are guided by fairness, constitutional rights, and human dignity.

📢 KNOW YOUR RIGHTS WHILE PROTESTING: A THREAD 📢
The right to protest is a fundamental human right guaranteed by the United States Constitution and the First Amendment.
If you are attending a protest and get stopped by police, ask if you're free to go. If they say yes, calmly walk away.
