Okay. Fuck Returnal. Was three hours into a run, had a great build, heading towards the 5th of six boss fights, looking like I’ll beat the game &…. It crashed. And given the game doesn’t save or have a system in place for if it crashes, I lost ALL that progress. Fuck that.

Following the crash my game is now experiencing a glitch where doors won't open. Trapping me forever within this room. Even the teleportation pad can't be interacted with. This has happened twice in a row. Rebooting the game/console does nothing.

Yesterday this game was on track to get an 8/10 in my review, today it's dropping digits by the second.

The game crashing as it did apparently completely broke it. I am now stuck in the starting area, this has happened twice at the start now. I can't interact with anything and the door wont open.

This is a loss of roughly 15 hours.

Update, I was able to fix the glitch & beat the last boss. Returnal took 15hrs, & at the time the credits rolled I had 19 deaths, with every boss beaten in 1-2 tries. It was a fun game (& twitch stream), but it’s weighed down by a high price tag, some bugs, & a lame end game

I’ll have a 4th part to my review playthrough stream on twitch tomorrow as I wrap up the endgame content, and if all goes to plan I’ll snag the platinum trophy by tomorrow night or Monday.
