Alright let's do this.

1 retweet = 1 harsh reading truth
No one book is a match for everyone.

Even if a book has 10,000+ 5-star ratings, you might not enjoy it.
You have time to read books, you just aren't prioritizing it.
You won't remember 90%+ of what you learned from a book even if it changed your life.
If you aren't reading books you're missing out on one of the few legitimate lifehacks in life.
Parents who read books to their kids are worth their weight in gold.
Even if you never apply what you've learned from a book, books will subconsciously change your mindset and the way you behave for the better.
If you reduced the amount of time you spent watching movies or scrolling social media by half, you'd easily read 25+ books a year.
The question isn't what's the best book medium (audio, ebook, print)?

The question is, what's the best book medium for you?

They all have their pros and cons.

Find the one(s) that suits you.
Most books are worth reading but aren't a match for most people.
As a reader you have to accept the fact that you'll never read all the books you want to read.
You can learn anything and everything you ever wanted from books, even how to find love.

(start with "How To Not Die Alone" by Logan Ury)
Every time you reread a book it will be a completely new book.
The best time to read is in the morning before work or in the evening before bed.
School teaches you how to read but not how to be a reader.
It's okay to quit books.
Having a spouse who loves to read is the ultimate life hack.
If one of your biggest problems in life is having too many books and not enough time to read them all...

Then you have a pretty good life.
If you have time to read tweets you have time to read books.
If you read for 10 minutes a day every day you'll transform your life within a year.
Self-published books today can be as good or better than traditionally published books.
You'll never regret spending time reading a book.
The people who say books aren't for them just haven't found the right book yet.
When it comes to reading:

Application > Memorization
Books are an investment, not an expense.
The number of books you've read is irrelevant.

What counts is the number of books that changed your life.
3 R's of effective reading:

β€’ Reading: absorbing new information

β€’Β Reflecting: identifying the most important lessons

β€’ Reacting: turning those key lessons into action

Reading is a skill much like playing tennis or driving a car, and there are things you can do to get better at it.
The best books are like the best movies.

You have to consume them multiple times to discover all of their gems.
People who read hundreds of books a year read to gain acceptance from others.

People who read and apply what they've learned read to gain acceptance from themselves.
You don't need to read 100+ books to change your life.

Read these 10 and you'll 10x your life:

-Mindset
-Deep Work
-Indistractable
-Atomic Habits
-Can't Hurt Me
-The Daily Stoic
-12 Rules for Life
-The Compound Effect
-Discipline Equals Freedom
-The Almanack of Naval Ravikant
If you don't like non-fiction but want to read more of that genre, start with parable books.

They read like fiction but share non-fiction lessons.

ex:

-The Go-Giver
-The Alchemist
-The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari
Read business books to get rich.

Read investment books to stay rich.
It's okay to skim, skip, or speed-read a book.

The book is here to serve you.

Use it however you'd like.
The reason most books are 200-300 pages long is because the spine has to be thick enough for the publisher to print the title on it.

That’s why authors fill their books with fluff and repeat themselves.
Reading is to your mind what exercise is to your body.
(Intermission)

I'll be back later but in the meantime, here are 5 podcasts that will make you a better reader

Don’t read to remember, read to understand.
Reading a ton of books is the most socially accepted vanity metric for adults.

Don't fall for this trap.
You may not feel like reading but you'll never regret doing it.
Thank you for all the retweets everyone, that’s all for now!

Twitter is the most powerful social media platform in the world.

However, most people don't know how to use it effectively.

Here are 10 tips that will help you master Twitter...
1/ Allow Me To Introduce Myself

Your Twitter profile is your new business card.

People should be able to quickly understand who you are and what you have to offer.

Pick your banner photo purposefully.

And have a link in your bio so people can learn more about you.

Example:
2/ Content Is King But Format Is Queen

Spacing and formating matters.

When making a list, put the shorter words on top and the longer ones on the bottom.

Bad:

β€’ Banana
β€’ Apple
β€’ Blueberry

Better:

β€’ Apple
β€’ Banana
β€’ Blueberry

I've read 200+ books.

Here are 10 of the most valuable mental models I've learned from them...
1/ Develop A Growth Mindset

People with a growth mindset believe that their abilities can be developed through practice and hard work.

They believe that with the right amount of training, they can accomplish almost any task that someone else can do.
2/ Change What You Can & Accept What You Can't

If you're unhappy about a situation, do what you can to improve it.

But if there's nothing you can do, then accept your circumstances.

Getting upset isn't going to make things better.

Accept things and wait it out.

Having trouble focusing on what you're reading or remembering what you've read?

You may be suffering from reading fatigue.

Here are 5 tips for overcoming reading fatigue.

(thread) 🧡
1) Take A 5 Minute Break Every 25 Minutes

Taking breaks from reading helps avoid eye strain and prevents reading burnout.

You can also use breaks as a way to reward yourself for reading.

(Ex: Read for 30 mins, go enjoy a snack or stretch out, then go return to reading).
2) Identify Your Chronotype

Are you an early bird or night owl?

You'll be more alert at different times of day and want to read during your peak time.

Reading between 1-3pm in the afternoon is usually not a good time for most peopleβ€”it’s great time to nap, but not to read.
